AdrianMF
OK, I’m in: Learning from my mistake from last year, I will neither be scratch building a new cockpit nor opening the canopy. If I had time I would look for a “forehead slap” emoticon... Regards, Adrian

Valkyrie
This will be good! Yes forget the cockpit detail , the time disappears
AdrianMF
Ah, forgetting cockpit detail was a piece of good advice, but too late! Here’s the fuselage ready to close up as soon as I have tidied the propeller spinner: Next up: paint the white bits to start building up the colour and provide a rudimentary wheel well. AdrianMF
Hello Again! White bits on the go so I can build up opacity with thin coats: Exhausts are a bit wrong - they should come out from a slot in the fuselage without a shelf above them. In any case, they will look better with open ends so I start out by making a dent with a centre punch and then drill out with a 0.7mm drill: Whatever you do, DO NOT WASTE TIME building an undercarriage bay that nobody will ever look at: Wings and fuselage together 5.5 hours in: Time to hit the gym while that lot dries... AdrianMF
I managed to get rid of the shelf above the exhausts. Would have been easier before assembly but it’s done: I’m not sure what this piece of plastic came from but it’s the right width to spread the fuselage a tad and get rid of any wing root gaps. I still have dihedral too: so I might as well stick it all together: Now i I can go to the gym... Thanks for looking, Adrian

The ale has started to flow - for medicinal purposes of course. Nice work on the P51.
AdrianMF
So, eleven hours in. Where am I? Underside has been painted, canopy is on after a lot of fiddling, I need to fill around the canopy and get the olive drab on... Thanks for looking, Adrian [edit: brushed Revell silver acrylic if anyone wants to know]
Jinxman
Very nice finish on the silver with a hairy stick 👍 - what size brush do you use? cheers

I use artist’s brushes so they cost a bit more but they give a great result and they last. Regards, Adrian 1
AdrianMF
Well talking of great brushing results, here’s a counter-example. I’m using Humbrol 86 acrylic, and it’s all gritty and weird. The colour looks too green as well, so I’m having a cuppa and a sandwich to consider my course of action from here: Thanks for looking, Adrian
AdrianMF
Much better: Well I think so anyway! Added one part Revell 46 acrylic “NATO olive” to two parts of Humbrol 86 and it now has a brownish tone. Undercarriage while that lot dries. AdrianMF
Coming along. Happy with the colour and lots of dry brushed variations: But as you can see I’ve had a little bit of running under the masks. I’m going to fix that, add black stripes underneath and then do the decals! Thanks for looking, Adrian
AdrianMF
Well I got to decals a while back: And now I’m calling it done: I left off the “Bulldogs” and the victory decals because my reference photo doesn’t show them. I will take some pictures for the gallery later on today after a sleep! Thanks for looking, Adrian
