Nikolay Polyakov
Hello Ian! Very nice choice, I’m looking forward for your build. I saw the Su-22UM kit in the hobby shop today, it seems that it would be my next purchase 😛 I heard that the windshield have some mismatch in this kit, can you take a closer picture of it? Thanks and have a nice build!
IPMS19
-I will follow your post with great interest as it will be one of my next kit. For the moment I'm collecting all the goodies on this subject I can find together with the ones for the Su-17M4 which are the same for most of them, and when mentaly ready, let's go for another trip in the Sukhoi world

Wee Beastie
Seats are nearly done. Very well detailed for kit supplied seats, and there’s a lot of parts to them. Painted the seat frame with black primer, and then details picked out with Hataka Blue Line paints. Seat padding is Orange Line Sky Type S, with some AK Smoke pigment used to “dirty” it up. Just the Eduard PE belts to attach. The HAD Models resin FOD covers were painted with Blue Line Pure Orange. The Blue Line thinned a lot with Hataka acrylic thinners. The FOD’s will receive a small amount of weathering. Finally, I repainted the Eduard cockpit set’s console panels, as the pre-printed colour had a pink hue, which didn’t look right. So I hand painted them with Blue Line Light Ghost Grey (note the colour testing on the outer frame).DSC_2852 by ian gaskell, on FlickrDSC_2852 by ian gaskell, on FlickrDSC_2852 by ian gaskell, on FlickrDSC_2852 by ian gaskell, on Flickr
Nikolay Polyakov
Great work @Wee Beastie! It’s a very good idea to use a FOD covers 👍 Cheers!
Frank083
Very nice start! Not a big fan of this aircraft but that paint scheme is just awesome! It will give a terrible agressive look to the machine! Looking forward to see the next steps Frank 1
IPMS19
- What's about the banana shaped belly which draw so many comments on several forums ? Is the correction part for the belly from CWS really useful ?

Bravo52
Oh boy.... Ever wonder why they don't paint the wheel rims? Seems like regardless of the overall scheme, the wheels remain green.... Edited August 26, 2018 by Bravo52

I can’t know exactly if it works for the Polish airframes, but it’s looks like this. Don’t hesitate to correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks!

Bravo52
Ian, are you going to "black base" this one....😜 Actually, looking at the scheme, a black base with white mottling is probably the best approach... Black base, with a black pre-shade, with maybe a some black post shading. 😋 Seriously though, having seen loads of photos of the Black Boar, it always seems in pristine condition. So it’ll be a “clean” look to this one, but I will be toning the decals down a touch.
Wee Beastie
Attached the etched belts, and applied a couple of decals, from the Airscale labels/placards decal sheet, to the headrest sides. Then finished off with a dry-brush of aluminium. Also made a start on the instrument panels. The main IP’s are done. The PE panels are a very good fit.DSC_2862 by ian gaskell, on FlickrDSC_2862 by ian gaskell, on FlickrDSC_2864 by ian gaskell, on FlickrDSC_2864 by ian gaskell, on Flickr
Wee Beastie
The cockpit is now together, and given a light wash. Very pleased with the way it's turned out. The Eduard PE has really lifted the detail. I have also got the fuselage section together. Completely disregarding the instructions, I cemented the sections, to make 2 traditional "halves". I have also used some thick plastic strip, cemented inside at the joints, to add some strength. The black, on the upper most half, is where I have filled, and sanded out the cannon blast shield, which isn't present on the UM3K Fitters. Then it was primed with some Stynylrez primer.DSC_2871 by ian gaskell, on FlickrDSC_2871 by ian gaskell, on FlickrDSC_2871 by ian gaskell, on FlickrDSC_2871 by ian gaskell, on FlickrDSC_2871 by ian gaskell, on Flickr
Hewy
I like the cockpit ian, very nice indeed, I'm sure you'll make the all over black scheme interesting, I'm especially looking forward to seeing that. Glynn 1

Cheers, Unc2 - Hi Uncle nice to have you again in touch, I have the correction belly for my three kit to built, I wrote an MP to Stenka about his wing pylons but to this day I've got no answer, I'm afraid the delay should be very long. His transkits are really top notched but the delay are too long, remind the Su 34 nose.

Wee Beastie
Cockpit tub now installed. A bit of filler here and there, but it’s in. All the wheel bays have been painted, and weathered. Same with the wheel bay doors and airbrakes. The starboard gun barrel has been replaced with a metal MasterModel item, and the port gun opening has been filled with some 1mm plastic rod.DSC_2878 by ian gaskell, on FlickrDSC_2878 by ian gaskell, on FlickrDSC_2878 by ian gaskell, on FlickrDSC_2878 by ian gaskell, on FlickrDSC_2878 by ian gaskell, on Flickr
Nikolay Polyakov
Stunning work Ian 👍 As some builders reported, you can glue in the barrels on a final stage - the work with a wings’ seams will be easier, they said. Cheers! 😎
