Hi all,

Chipping in with this one - no box as it was in a placcy bag. Going for the metal finish for a laugh. A little bit of shape fettling to do, but some of the faults will be getting left well alone. 🤐

I'll be starting around Sunday lunchtime for a 12 hour stint, having a kip, and then getting back into it around Monday lunchtime.

Not expecting any interruptions, and building will be accompanied by chicken curry, (prepared by the missus before she went away),  a couple of beers and whatever music tales my fancy on youtube at the time.

If I get it finished I'll be partaking of the Laphroaig Quarter Cask the lad supplied me for my birthday.

cheers!

Good luck but I don't think you need an excuse to sample the Laphroaig Quarter Cask

A kind man once told me that it goes off if you don't drink it soon after opening - who am I to disagree?

I had to sample it last night to make sure it was still ok.. 😉

I’m going to use that it goes off after opening line! Balvennie Carribean cask for me when the time comes today...good luck with the whisky, and the build

Oh dear, another one to try - sounds very smooth.

For all the odd things my children do with their lives they are very thoughtful when it comes to pressies. 👍

Good kids!! Better than slippers and socks! Yeah all the Balvennies are good, doublewood and Caribbean are the best 2. Oban is my favourite

How are you progressing, I like Czech builds

Oban - delicious! I'm a fan of Lagavulin, but will quite happily drift around with other malts.

Not starting until tomorrow lunchtime - just trying to have a tidy up before I get started - I had forgotten how much crap had accumulated. :banghead:

Time to get started - the iPad decided it needed resetting this morning - after an hour of faffing it is now sorted.

Breakfast consisted of some marmalade on toast with a cuppa - no photos though.

Time to crack on during a very wet and windy Sunday afternoon - the kit in question,

..and whilst the, hopefully, very hot chicken curry defrosts, I have the following accompaniments to choose from - I reckon the McEwan's is favourite.

cheers!

Three o'clock and all's well.. No music allowed until now as my daughter had a heavy night last night, and she has finally surfaced. Neil Young starts the proceedings with Heart of Gold, Johnny Cash next I think.

I am leaving most of the shape issues to concentrate on a few detail bits - hopefully it will work out.

Moderate progress;

The wing has had a good seeing to, heavy sanding to tidy up the trailing edge. Two coats of Halfords finest applied.

Cockpit started - just need to decal up the panel with some instruments before fitting and then I can close it up. Alclad primer used as the cockpit colour is light grey 😉

Drilled out the radiator for inlets, and the exhausts - using bits of tubing to replace them and hopefully it will look ok.

Nicked some of lads pizza and garlic bread for munchies, and a cup of tea has perked me up! Onwards!

Good start, i like the compartment box, I could have used that today!

It's essential for me - I can't count the number of times I must have fed the carpet monster without it 🤨

The back muscles are complaining, so time for some grub.

Chicken curry with a sturdy ale..and my favourite bottle opener.

..however this malingerer had most of the chicken.

..and that's me done for today. Not as far as I would have liked, perhaps a more modern kit next time might be a good idea.🤔

Very enjoyable though, most bits with at least one coat of primer, (4 so far on the wing), and the fuselage is sealed up with liberal quantities of Mr. Cement S and superglue.

Only a few bits still on the sprue, and at least the decals are cut up ready. 😁

See you tomorrow 👍

Looking great so far Jinxman and well on course for completion I'd say :thumbsup2:

I had to get mine yesterday, as I'm off to the Enville Show today (at least it's stopped raining).

Have a good time in Enville - hopefully it won't be too busy. You could always retire to the Cat Inn if it is of course! :drink:

I'll be arising soon, have some brekkie and then a severe tidy up of the man cave might be in order....

..and back in the saddle.

Mancave suitably tidied, breakfast was my partner's delicious home-made marmalade on toast with a cup of Earl Grey.

First victims today are a rub down on the wing, and then some more fettling of the fuselage. The only shape issue I have addressed is the area above the engine - it had a really odd dip in it that I couldn't live with.

Here we go..music to start with is Magazine Peel Sessions..

...a more easily put together meal tonight - and still the whippet lurks. We do have some decals on though - they went on a treat with a bit of Microset..

Fiddlesticks, aargh!, pre-planning and all that, and good old Murphy shows his face again.

The main struts with the kit are too short - using them would mean the wing sat on the fuselage. Some progress pics below anyway.

Mark this down as a fail, but a very enjoyable one all the same. Thanks for your company - see you next time..🤘
