AFV Club 1/35 M113A1

Hi guys

 

Here is my recently finished AFV Club 1/35 M113 representing "Track 13", B company 1/5th infantry "Bobcats" 25th infantry division "Tropic Lightning".

 

I originally started this build in January for a SIG on another forum. Unfortunately i missed the deadline by 4 months but it got there in the end. 

The kit as a whole is easy enough and its great to have a new tool to replace the 20+ year old alternatives.

Various aftermarket parts used came from Fruil, RB Models, Legend, Live Resin, Tasca, Value Gear and the spares box.

The kit offers 7 decal options (6 US in Vietnam & 1 Taiwan). Of the 6 US ones i found reference pictures for 5 of them. I decided to go for "Track 13" as I have wanted to build a M113 with a minigun for many years now. 

 

Here is "Track 13" with jury rigged M2 browning for the driver.

For my build I decided to use the weapon set up from her sister "Track 14".

Very nicely done. I can almost hear the Stones' "Paint it Black" playing in the background.

That's finished up as very smart. Very convincing, I particularly like the smoke grenades on the bungee cord, well done!

A recreation of the original vehicle, truly superb, full of details that bring reality, and very good treatment of reddish sand.

A superb job. Truly excellent in every respect. Loving all the glorious little details; from the smoke grenades and bullet belts to the spent cases and the jacket. I really like the red sandy mud as well, though at first I thought it was heavy rust. I think there's grounds for confusion on that point, given where some of that 'mud' is, but hey, maybe it IS mud and rust.

 

I would love to see this with some figures in a small diorama,

They have been painted but could probably do with another coat now you mention it. When you see reference pictures with the lights off they look almost black.

Excellent build! I especially liked the stowage, which really brings AFVs to life. One detail that caught my eye was the dull aluminum "Igloo" cooler - my parents had one just like it when I was growing up in the 1960s!
