ProfSparks
Hi All I'm afraid it's not the new one, but the old mould That's fine, as it's going to be my after hours project while I decide on what to concentrate on next on There's not that many parts for a twin engine bomber They include one-piece props and spinners, a one-piece cockpit with moulded in chairs (you get a control column but nothing else, which is a shame as the canopy is a) bulbous but b) thick and distorting), and two grotesque engines that will thankfully be completely hidden inside the cowlings. Mind the gap. Oh yeah, and it's full of sink holes too Anyhoo, ours is not to reason why Comments and suggestions welcome Cheers 🍷 Steve
Parabat
That looks challenging. Thise sink holes are awful.

ProfSparks
Hi All It was a tough choice between spending time and patience on carefully easing filler and sanding between the fine surface detail , or just having a bash at it. It's bashed 🔨. I figure the surface detail was erroneous anyway I'm planning on fitting the nose gondola glazing and cockpit internals through the cockpit aperture after I've sprayed the exterior, should save on masking. AdrianMF
Looks like it is just as frustrating as the Airfix one to build! Looking forward to your progress on this. Regards, Adrian 1
ProfSparks
Hi All Slow, disjointed progress of sorts, but thankfully the main wing roots have orientation keyways on one side, so at least one wing will be on the right way round ☑️ So, fill and sand a couple of seams and joins How many seams and joins needed filling and sanding? (Spoiler alert:- all of them) But here she is ready for her first round of primer Comments and suggestions welcome Cheers 🍷 Steve
Sturmovik
That classic is looking great, I built it twice when I was younger, and had a blast building it.
Jinxman
I reckon it'll look fine with a splash of primer on it - have you decided on a colour scheme yet?
Martian
This is coming along well. It must be a sign that I have been around too long as I remember when this kit was considered the bees knees. Martian 👽
ProfSparks
Hi All On 9/14/2018 at 8:14 AM, Jinxman said: I reckon it'll look fine with a splash of primer on it - have you decided on a colour scheme yet? Lumpy Vallejo primer splashed! I'm going to try the splinter over yellow wing tips A-4 (9K*DS). There's still work (HA!) to be done on the fuselage seams, the undercarriage doors are just on for colour matching, the engine whatsits are glaringly dislocated, the nose is cracked, the cockpit aperture is disfigured, that lower gondola is a mess, and generally if I'd paid MRP for this I'd be well upset. However, for a £4 charity shop exercise it's a lot of fun! Comments and suggestions welcome Cheers 🍷 Steve
CedB
Stynylrez rules! No lumps in that, and it sticks! Nice top there Prof. Comments on your bottom will be avoided...

I reckon the splinter scheme will look fine. 😀 Looking at the decal sheet - are those yellow bands for the edge of the cowlings?

ProfSparks
Hi All A couple of sneaky sessions with masking tape (for masking), a cocktail stick (for poking into my eyes), and a sharp knife (to take a stab at where the canopy framing might be), and I can confirm pre-cut masks are easier. I also had a quick blast at Vallejo Yellow RLM04 71.078 I don't think it's as dark as I thought it would be, even though it's directly on the grey, but it might change once the blue goes on. I'm going do something with those engine seams as it looks like they've split with the insertion of Blu Tack and the paint brush handles . Putty Animal
I saved my pocket money for weeks in 1977 to by this kit. I was in rapture when I finally got it.

ProfSparks
Hi All And here we have some Vallejo Air Light Blue RLM76 (VA 71.257) on their primer Hasn't come out too bad, possibly slightly rushed to get it done in the time available, but I can live with it considering other constructional irregularities. As a side note, the Vallejo Air Light Blue RLM65 (VA 71.255) on the Karas has a slightly greyer tinge More hopefully later Comments and suggestions welcome Cheers 🍷 Steve
