SnapCrackle
Hi all, I've got a 1/48 gladiator on the go, whose cowling I've cut and shut to accommodate a resin engine. Unfortunately I had to sand off one of the humps over the cylinder heads to get everything together. I'm looking for advice on how to replace this detail, the original plan was to create a mould from one of the remaining humps but attempt 1 didn't go as well as I'd hoped. Any tips? stevehnz
Small piece of plastic card the approximate depth & shape of the engine bumps, glue to a short piece of sprue for a handle, sand to shape, cut off sprue & stick to cowl. Job done. Steve. 2
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Possibly mold it with Milliput ?
SnapCrackle
Thanks both for your replies. I tried both methods and ended up preferring the plastic card option. A little bit more sanding to do now it's in situ, but I'm quite happy with the result 😊 Thanks again!
stevehnz
That looks OK, maybe a little filler cleaned up straight after with thinners or water on a q-tip, depending on what thinner you use, to blend the base in & it'll be a good thing.
