arubin
I am a bit puzzled by the disc like structure shown in this cockpit . The Eduard 1/48 Mk IXe profipack does not show this disc. I have an AZ Mk IX kit which has it present in Mk IXe and absent in Mk IXc. Does anyone know which is correct? This is a detail which would be easily visible even with a closed canopy. gingerbob
If you mean the one "on the ground" next to the gunsight (?), I think it is an optional headrest/cushion. See Step B in the instructions, which there's a link to on the Eduard product page. Going on memory, early Mk.IXs, or some of them, had the padded headrest, later ones had none. I don't remember there being two thicknesses, though. Edited August 21, 2018 by gingerbob
arubin
That would be the thicker one on the ground. The built model shows a thinner one. The profipack has no head rest at all.
Work In Progress
There is a tremendously fat one for Seafires
rs2man
If you look in the bottom right-hand corner of that Eduard page , there's a link to a PDF of the instructions which shows the 2 different headrests
