bootneck
I'd like to add a Typhoon FGR.4 to my collection of 1:144 scale modern jets but I'm not sure if one has been produced. I've looked on Scalemates but couldn't find anything. If there isn't a 1:144 scale version of an FGR.4, could I produce one from any other existing kit of the Typhoon in this scale? I'm not interested in 3D printed but not averse to resin or vacform, if they exist. Mike
PhantomBigStu
Revell, there is zero external difference between a f2 and a fga4, though no doubt it lacks the inner pylons so can’t go for a full wespons load Edited August 18, 2018 by PhantomBigStu
exdraken
Any Typhoon/Eurofighter single seater fits the bill .... decals is the more important!
bootneck
Thanks both. I like the Xtradecal set (X44007) which only showed FGR.4's, hence my query. The sheet also has decals for Tornado GR.4's and I know of the Dragon Tornado GR.4 kit; however, can any of the 1:144 scale Revell Tornado's be built as a GR.4? Thanks again. Mike Sadly the tornado is a different kettle of fish, none of the Revell boxings allow you to do a gr4, but the kit has also been issued by dragon and one of the boxings was released with the extra gr4 sensor pod https://www.scalemates.com/kits/108111-dragon-4606-tornado-gr-
upnorth
Pit Road do a Typhoon FGR.4 kit that includes the inboard pylons: https://hlj.com/product/PITSN-05 From what I've read, it's easily the equal of the Revell kit and the strengths and weaknesses of the respective kits come down to finer details that probably won't matter a lot at 1/144. As for the Tornado Gr.4, I think best would be to get the Revell Gr.1 kit and make the Gr.4 lumps and bumps with scrap styrene and a bit of filing. After that, it's just a matter of getting the markings right.

upnorth
I noticed it as discontinued as well, but that doesn't mean it isn't out there somewhere for sale by someone.
Bobski
Revell's 1/144 scale Typhoon will do the job. The only external difference between an F2 and an FGR4 is the small FLIR fairing on the nose, which is present on the FGR4 and absent on the F2. kingcanberra
For the Tornado GR4, RetroWings do the LRMTS (item RW44007) if shaping some sprue is too delicate an operation at this scale.
kingcanberra
The Dragon kit (4606) doesn't include a FLIR lump but does include the LRMTS (stbd side lump).
bootneck
Thanks, I'll look for close-in views or diagrams and have a go at making the part. cheers Mike
