Airfix pleased a lot of modellers when they released their new tooling of this awesome Cold War warrior, and we reviewed the majority of the sets from Eduard here.  We missed the Air Brakes when a few items got mislaid, so here they are now.  As usual with Eduard's Photo-Etch (PE) and Mask sets, they arrive in a flat resealable package, with a white backing card protecting the contents and the instructions that are sandwiched between.

 

 

Supplied on a single brass sheet, this set provides skins for the majority of the air brake surfaces, adding rivet and panel detail, as well as lightening holes in abundance.  A little detail needs removing before construction, and the Y-shaped part of the actuator ram is removed and replaced by a folded-up hollow piece with a substantial improvement in detail.  The air brakes themselves are also skinned, again increasing the level of detail immensely.  If you're planning on displaying your model with the air brakes open, then this is the ideal set for you.
