a couple of magach's in 1/72

I'm busy building a Magach 7a (Revell's M60, CMK-conversion, Black Dog track) and a Magach 6 with mine roller (Revell's M60, Modelltrans Nochri I mine roller, M60 alu wheels and M48 tracks, black dog conversion)

CMK resin kit is very nice, beautiful cast, almost no bubbles, and no damage to the parts.

The black dog kit is another league.. lots of broken parts, so it will take time to deal with this...

Progress with the 7a:

ready to start on the tracks for this one

Magach 6 with mine roller

Here I have a question concerning the mounting plate for the mine roller system.

If I dryfit the plate, it is flush on the top glacis plate, but there s a large gap to the lower glacis plate… Now I'm a bit in doubt about how to progress. Either this is correct, or I have to saw a gap in the front to slide the mounting plate further backwards…

For this one, the tracks are also completed. The modelltrans tracks are a bit between two worlds, nicely cast, but there are not enough to make two complete tracks. they are also twice as thick as the kit tracks, and don't fit between the return rollers and the fenders. For these reasons, I've replaced the upper part of the track with the kits tracks. They have the wrong pattern, but that won't be visible after mounting eventually.

Will be continued soon...

some progress, second set of tracks is finished. These were a direct copy of the Revell Merkava III tracks, thus the lengths needed to be adapted to fit. The idler wheels were with the ribs and tracks, so I removed the cast resin wheel and one link to get a proper fit. Also on the drive sprocket one link needed to be removed to get a fluid contour. I also repositioned the wind sensor a bit. On to the last details before painting. Only then I'll be able to mount the system for the side-armor.

Think I will change the smoke launchers a bit, so that they look straight ahead.

Sorry for the grainy pictures, will see if I can replace them

Some progress on the 7a.

The smoke grenade launchers position wasn't that, so I filed the mounting brackets for a better look. I've added some lifting hooks, handles, etc... Still to do are the munition casings for the mg's, the mg's themselves...

Also the hull get's into it's final stage, after basic painting and mounting the tracks, then the skirts can be added..

also a question, how are the tools (wrenches, spade, tow cables) positioned on these tanks?

thx,

some progress:

Added the wires for the smoke cannisters and the brackets to hold the towing cables

Also made a spade from the PE-frames and the towing cables from cupper wire:

that spade needs to be mounted to the tank too...

(I forgot 1 bracket to hold it in place, is coming up...)

Then the part I was afraid of most, soldering the MG's... These consist of three layers PE that need to be aligned perfectly (barrels are 0.5mm, 1/50") so these bend easily. Not perfect, but still good enough..

and all in primer, I know there are some anomalies within these parts...:
