phat trev
An idea I have been proposing for a while now is to build a Whif Lynx (1/72 Matchbox as the basis) .?.what if the Lynx had interest from the US Navy in the mid-late 70’s. I want to open this up on here to see others opinions on how the US Navy may have altered the helicopter, what would it have been used for, instead of or even alongside. This will also be the first helicopter I have built My first thoughts were that Sikorsky would have probably been in on such a deal vs Kaman (the Seasprite looks a similar machine) Thoughts, ideas and references from other by users would be really interesting (I hope) cheers
Richard E
An interesting idea. Unfortunately I suspect that any Americanised version of the smaller, less powerful Lynx would be a less capable machine than Sikorsky's SH-60B which would probably be its logical competitor, however I wonder if would be operated by the Coast Guard in a Search and Rescue/drugs interdiction role instead of the Eurocopter HH-65 Dolphin ? thomasweir
There's an Sikorsky advert promoting the Sea Lynx virtues to the USN. Originally proposed for the Lamps II competition which was cancelled in favour of Lamps III which the Seahawk won. I think the. SH-2G became Lamps II.5.

Richard E
To float a possible alternative idea which I've got on my "WHIF" List: a VIP transport version in old school 32 Squadron colours of white and light aircraft grey with a blue cheatline.
