Hansa W.33 civil, Tiedemann flying advertisiment, Broplan 1/72 vacuform conversion with Arctic Decals

Recommended Posts

The colorful Tiedemann flying advertisement plane is now completed.

The step-by-step building thread can be visited here:

The modifications involved manly a different nose and a new two-passenger accommodation aft position. Some parts of the Broplan kit were discarded, like the engine and some struts, a tad crude for the purpose. A whole new decal set was commissioned from Arctic Decals.

It is a rewarding experience to make those drab and gloomy WWI birds into more joyful machines with appealing color schemes and much more positive lives.

Flying advertisement went along with aviation development from its very beginnings, and since the purpose is of course to grab attention, the resulting models of them are per norm visually striking.

Many kits can be converted with little or no modifications into out-of-the-ordinary models that present another side, more luminous, of those magnificent flying machines.

Another superb work of craftsmanship and art!  My only request..please, where's the trolly?  😀

I have been scratchbuilding beaching trolleys for all the seaplane models I have been posting here in the last months. Too many trolleys.

Even with extraterrestrial technology there is a limit for what can be done, earthling.

You decide: beaching trolley or finish the Fiat BR.20A, the Timm Tutor and the Lockheed Air Express.

Or: I will build the beaching trolley if somebody sends me the gift of a package of the assorted Contrail extruded plastic struts material, that I just run out of.

There.

Very nice indeed and well photographed.  I'd been thinking about the possibility of doing up a Spit and/or a Hurri as an air racer in bright colours and you may have convinced me to go ahead.

Really nice model.

I've enjoyed your selection of civil aircraft. Which reminds me, I've got a "kamikaze" to build some time.

David

Thanks for showing Moa :) - wonderful!

This sort of build is always inspiring ( also had a soft spot for the Hansa since year dot- quite an aircraft for its day)

Hi David: The Kamikaze (J-BAAI) and Asakaze (J-BAAL) are beautiful machines, give it a go!

Hi Moa,

I plan on doing the Kamikaze (J-BAAI). I have the Hasegawa Ki-15-I kit, but it doesn't have the correct markings. That was going to be my first attempt at custom-printed decals, so that's the big hurdle!

Regards,

David

Congratulations with a very nice job! I guess that the Broblan kit is the only option for the W.33?

Sadly, the Tiger was lost in a fatal accident shortly after Tiedemann put it into operation.
