Mach 2 1/72 BLOHM und VOSS BV 142 V2 long-range reconnaissance aircraft 1940

Recommended Posts

I recently completed this model and its construction appeared in Aircraft Work In Progress here on Britmodeller.

This is what I started with. A challenging but enjoyable build. The only transparency that I replaced was the dorsal turret which came from my spares. I scratchbuilt a flight deck and sanded and polished the kit's glazing. All brush painted in Revell and Humbrol enamels.

The kit's decals were superb.

What an amazing looking beast!  Very nicely done and something that I've never even heard of never mind seen.  The crew figures really bring it to life, especially the guy in the top hatch talking to his oppo on the ladder.  Superb stuff Adey.

That's amazing!

I have never bought a Mach2 kit, but I know of their reputation for being, well, hard to build (he said, diplomatically).

Your build disguises any such issues - and I love the figures too.

Brilliant!

Wow - not something you see everyday and like others have mentioned, I'm guilty for not even knowing this type ever existed!

Once again, superbly modelled, painted, photographed and presented. You really are an artist of the highest repute.

Cheers.. Dave

Is this another aircraft I need to add to my 1940 obsession?

A fabulous build and superb finish. I love the way you pose the figures in natural ways, too. They set the model off brilliantly.

Mr. Adey,

congratulations for finishing this kit!

It is a very rarely seen model - I have only seen another one finished so far.

Despite the kit's low quality (compared to todays standards of tooling) you managed to get an excellent result.

I noticed a few inaccuracies on the kit:

In my opinion, the ailerons and trim tabs are too wide, while the exhausts should be further aft (3-4mm).

The Bv-142 had the same wheel size as H-111, Do-215, Fw-200, or Ju-88A1 - they look slightly oversized on the model.

Of course, these issues are made by Mach2 and do not spoil the overall impression!

Best greetings from Vienna,

Roman

Me too.  I didn't even know Germany had a heavy.  Nice work, Adey, and an interesting-looking kite.

Another cracking piece produced by Adey    What a strange looking aircraft it’s like it’s been designed following a bad phone line conversation with someone describing a number of different planes that they’ve seen and Blohm and Voss thought. “We can build that”. Nice faultless work as alway Adey 👍👍👍
