MiG-21 S "Operation Danube" 1968 - Eduard 1/72 EPIC FAIL AND ABANDON

Recommended Posts

This is my (first?) entry for the GB: a red striped soviet MiG-21S. It took part at "Operation Danube", the warsaw pact invasion of the Czechoslovakia. For the kit, i will use the little gem from Eduard. I have already built the kit and i really enjoyed it. So, let's start with another.

I will build the "Red 01". Hope to start soon the work on this kit!

Time to give a bit of color to my MiG! I start to paint the interior with the tipical russian tourquoise-green by ak interactive. The wheel bays are painted with XF-4 by Tamiya. Now clear and then washing!

stay tuned!

That was quick work Ale!

Yes, the fit is amazing and just a small amount of putty is needed! I really love this kit!

Let's start to paint!!

FIrst of all, a gloss coat for base (H-1 by Gunze)

then, it's heavy metal... pardon xtreme metal time!!

I used the white alluminium shade by ak extrem metal. i really love this kind of product, for me the best for a nmf. Tomorrow i will apply a darker shade on some panels.

stay tuned for more progresses!

hope you like it!

Good start to the painting ale, i too like those ak extreme metal paints, i used chrome as the main coat on a p-47 in the group build and different panels in aluminum and duraluminium, the chrome did lose some of its shine by the end, but your on to a winner here nice base coat ale,

Sad to announce, i have to retire my MiG from the competition 😭

Too many bad thing happended during this phases: problems with paints, a big mistake with the red stripe, i broke a part on the wing, i furtherly broke the pitot tube...

so, it was a very unlucky Mig.

i'm sad because i was very happy of the result so far, now i think about his destiny: finish it o r throw it in a bin...

Btw, i wil search another subject for this gb :(

Oh no!!

That is all fixable! Happened to all of us ....

Stripe, just redo it!

Wing what is the problem?

Pitot: Master Metal replacement is for sure available and nearly unbreakable!

I agree with exdraken in that the problems that you have are fixable.
