Douglas DC 2 K, 117 Sq RAF, Middle East 1941, MPM 1/72

Hi,

I made a kind of a side kick from biplanes and riging (what is my recent activity in modelling) and I did DC 2 (some call it DC 2 K) from MPM kit. The details of about the serial, painting etc were discussed here. I appreciete all valuable imputs and I am very grateful for them.  

 

 

 

Initially I though about doing AX-755 "B" which was use in trip of Polish Prime Minister General Sikorski in November 1941 to meet and talk with J.Stalin, Following profile published in Polish Journal "Lotnictwo" frm 2004  (and photo of part of fuselage) I moved door to opposite side of fuselage and put large fin. However when already model  was glued I realized that this particlular machine was late DC-2 with landing lapms not in nose but in wings. That was too much so I quit with AX 755 and turn to AX 769 "O" by re-sribing door on left side etc... . The sister machine, AX 767 had early fin, so I changed fin painted and so on. When I was applying decals I looked carefuly once again at the photo of AX 769 and notice that the fin is large (not early type as at 767 was)!!!,

So I removed the fin again and went back to larger one... Hopefully, the nose landing lams are seen ofn the photo of AX 769 "O" as well as pretty worn camo...

Indeed, it is not Spanish- but sometime I regred that I have not done it as Spanish. I was looking for scheme not provided by MPM (they gave in one box RAAF, in another Finnish, then Spanish and mine was German and Dutch). But recently I have found photos of the same Spanish DC 2 as in MPM box baut likely from early time in Nationalist hands with MG insalled in front canopy (so firing forward!). and in side windows. That would be great, but I was already too advanced in build too far such change which requires having access to inside...
