Valenstitch
I haven't been on the bench in over six months for various reasons the main ones being 1. Loss of Mojo. 2. Loss of fitness leading to high blood pressure. 3. Roof box in the way. So, I have been working on the fitness for the last four months, I`m back on track there, more Vin Diesel staring back in the mirror where it used to be Dr. Evil! Last weekend I moved the roof box, everything was where it used to be...............still no Mojo though, I had a bit of a root around and decided to make some room on the S.O.D. for the four stalled Armour builds sitting on the bench, unfortunately space is at a premium in my shed, so I thought my Son wouldnt mind budging up a bit on his S.O.D. (more like wouldnt notice!) So I started rooting around there on the basis that I didnt want to disturb a teenagers plague pit too much when I found it! My missing MOJO, It was all wrapped up in an Airfix "Tiffy" and a Mustang! Ok, so a bit of dusting off revealed it was all sound, tidy so far, just needed to repaint the innards of the Mustang and crack on with the paint job on both............Ok so no paint guide for either, no instructions for the Tiffy, but all the bits are there and the decals are ok, so what to do? Ah S.O.D. it, it`s bound to be on line somewhere, so I knocked up a batch of interior green 2 xf3 to 1 xf5 and shot it onto some stynylrez, my enthusiasm bubbling over! Looks kind of Mustangy............ And shot some more into and onto the other bits I recognise..............aluminum to go on here as well.......... The Tiffy was at a more advanced stage of construction Just had to get a roll of this to rescribe a lost panel line or two........... And then out with the the primer...............We`ll see how much work needs doing later......... Mind you the temperature was marginal for spraying Stynylrez, it was going off in the gun! I use a .4 needle for this, almost fire hose size! Nice when you find your Mojo isn't it! Ta for lookin` no "G" Granto

Valenstitch
Well this Mojo is very welcome if unexpected! Already today I got some Flory dirt on the interior of the Mustang which I gloss coated yesterday evening whilst cooking dinner! The IP decal went on this morning and I got her buttoned up! The fuselage is a good tight fit, it doesn't look it in this image but that's just some stynylrez grey on the port side, prop and flaps are dry fitted. This has got me proper fired up! And a quick wipe with aluminum on the top of the wheel wells leaving the wing spar interior green, I`ll touch this up later before a gloss coat and a dirty up! I think the last aircraft kit I made must have been in the early 90`s, it was a Hasegawa HH60D Blackhawk, I also built a Hind A, neither of which have survived, but I forgot how much fun 1:72 aircraft are, trouble is now I`m looking at Hannants website every couple of hours for seatbelts and quickboost resin and xtradecal sets! (other retailers and manufacturers of aftermarket parts are available............allegedly!) Mind you, these two are my Son`s so unless he decides to put his hand in his pocket these will be strictly OTB! The Tiffy got a quick once over with a polishing stick and I rescribed a partially erased panel line using my new Dymo tape as a straight edge.....................full marks to whoever thought that trick up! She also needed a smear of filler behind the radiator. Apologies for the blurred image....I was getting excited! I`m hoping to get the tailplane fitted onto the Mustang later today and then a shot of primer if the temperature drops a bit, other wise I`ll have to get up very early tomorrow and shoot it then! Valenstitch
Got a bit of a messy preshade on today, never done anything in this scale with one, it went all over the place! Still, never mind.............I`m sure it'll all work out in the end.............. My excuse is that I have to stand up to use the booth! Now I thought I had the paints for these two, however it turns out I didnt...............so I decided to give these a go..............when it cools off a bit! Christer A
Random acts of preshading is usually the best approach
Valenstitch
Oooooh I like this Vallejo.................... even in my oven of a shed it went on like silk.....Ooooh I`m going to enjoy this! # I`ll leave this overnight and mask it up for the dark grey topsides tomorrow! fubar57
Nice to get rid of the "block". I've been using Vallejo Model Air more frequently and really like it. One thing I've learned is to let the paint sit for a minimum of 24hrs before masking and remove as much tape tack as you dare. I then run a thin bead of clear flat around the edge of the tape. After shooting I try and get the tape off within the hour. Doing in this I rarely have bleed under and on most models, no paint lift
Valenstitch
As befits a fellow of my age I have been pottering around these last few days doing a bit here and a bit there and making some progress with the two S.O.D. blockers, Today I removed the masking from the Tiffy after it`s overall paint job.......... Due to the rain the light is dreadful in the shed so the fots are not good..................but I`ll take the paint job! Very impressed with the Vallejo paints..........ten drops was enough to cover with the green on each one, mega economical! I got a small amount of overspray on the underside of the wing in front of the undercarriage wells, but apart from that it`s very clean. The Mustang got its second coat of green, I`ll unmask her later on.............I`m happy with this! Ta for lookin` no G Granto
Valenstitch
Now this is the sort of progress I like! Clear coat, decals, liberally dosed with micro sol, and another clear coat Spinner and prop for the Tiffy, just need to do the tips of the prop blades Then it`s whip aerial, paint the gun barrels, finish the drop tanks and a few touch ups before a flory wash! I've been pleasantly surprised, even impressed by this kit, the fit is delightful, I will certainly build more of these! There`s a lot more to do on the Tiffy though, hopefully I can get the decals on her tomorrow, that's if I can figure out where they go what with no instructions and so forth! Valenstitch
It`s been another good day! Thanks Bigdave 22014, although I didnt see your post until just now! In the meantime I took the pad into the shed and cracked on with the decals on the Tiffy As previously mentioned I haven't built ,painted or decaled an aeroplane in years, despite cutting my eye teeth on them as a lad, so these hoofing great invasion stripes were causing a little apprehension, but micro sol and a pit of patience paid off big time! they have settled into the panel lines nicely and even around the fish plate reinforcement on the Tiffy`s transport joint! The Mustang got a good flory wash.............. Not having used it on an aeroplane kit before I am delighted at how it makes the detail pop! Even in 1;72. Prop dry fitted whilst making suitable engine noises! A bit of fluff to wipe off on the flaps.........I think that filler cap ought to be red, it`s certainly red on the P51 that serves as my screen saver............ Today goes in the win column! Valenstitch
The Mustang has had a flatcoat now, and the canopy masking was removed, just a whip antenna to go on and this one is done! The tiffy has had all it`s decals applied now........... Clearcoat tonight and then final assembly I guess! Happy days! Valenstitch
Final tidying up on the Mustang, I used acrylic crystal to do the wingtip and underwing lights, I didnt have any amber though so I experimented, it almost worked! Gradually wiping the Flory wash off the Tiffy, Yet another good kit in my opinion, for what it`s worth........I will certainly make another of these for myself! Just the RP3`s to finish off and then flatcoat and details............... My Mojo is well and truly restored, I`m already straining at the leash to start my next build, just waiting for Hannants to get their act together!
