1/72 Tamiya P-51D Mustang 'Old Crow'

Recommended Posts

Dear fellow Britmodellers,

this is my 1/72 Tamiya P-51D, dressed as "Old Crow", flown by Clarence 'Bud' Anderson, 362nd Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group, autumn 1944.

The model was built from the box with the addition of 108 Gallon paper tanks (from a Tamiya P-47D) and decals for the tyre white walls (from an old Hasegawa decal sheet).

Painted with Gunze Mr.Hobby acrylics (H52 Olive Drab/H53 Grey).

Photographs by Wolfgang Rabel.

With best greetings from Vienna!

  • Roman Schilhart changed the title to 1/72 Tamiya P-51D Mustang 'Old Crow'

Hi Again My Friend Roman!!!

Congratulations for this masterpiece!!!

I was watching this gem and liked a huge lot the way you have done it, great close colors, attention to details and the soft weathering you have got for this build, but the most liked me is the way you have matched the nose square colors with the spinner ones...great achivement!!! Have you used the red/yellow squares the kit decal provides???

I have been looking in my stash for this kit just to watch carefully at this one and for checking the kit decals, and looks like this one is really a gem of a kit with a lot  of detais that deserves a great build as you have done here.  BTW seem this is one of those strange cases in which you have used kit decals instead of aftermarket ones. Thank you very much for sharing!!!

Cheers,

Luis Alfonso
