Malair
My latest build is the Czech Master Resin Douglas DC-2 in orange KLM Livery. KLM adopted this scheme when one of their DC-2’s was almost shot down by a German fighter who mistook it (accidently?) for an enemy fighter. As part of a group build I’m building the DC-2, DC-3 and PS-84. In order to make a more stark contrast between the three, I thought the orange livery would work well. As far as I know there are only two 1:144 DC-2 kits, the other one being a vacform kit. The kit builds pretty well and the details are nice. The panel lines are very thin though and disappear after painting (and I usually don’t bother with re-scribing them). The orange colour is Revell 30. The cockpit and window decals are once again home made by me. For the antenna my girlfriend gracefully supplied one of her hairs, which I painted black after first donning it in super glue to make it more stiff. All in all this was a fun, easy little kit to make. That said, one mistake I made was that I made the windows slightly too small (0,2 mm) and I applied them a bit too high (2mm). My next model for the group build will be the PS-84 from Eastern Express, but I’m first waiting for some Photo Etch parts. As such, my next project for now will be the Zvezda A320 in the colours of Amsterdam Airlines. Anyhow: the pictures: And finally a bigger shot of my new taxiway display base (one of five new display bases I made) Anyway, hope you enjoy, thanks for looking and see you next time! Turbofan
Gorgeous Martijn! The easyjet of the 40's! Particularly impressed by the propeller detail and subtle weathering on the rudder. Nice to see your wire antenna it's these small details which I always think bring a model to life as do your awesome windows too! Love the new base! I really need to upgrade mine sometime soon as it's starting to look tired. Looking forward to your other new bases, and your next A320. Cheers, Ian

Orion
hello Malair, Excellent model. Interesting subject. As a Dutch Aviation enthusiast unknown to me, in regards to the orange color scheme. Regards, Orion.
Malair
Thanks Orion! I didn't know either before doing this subject. I think that one of the fun aspects of this hobby is that you learn new things everytime you start a new project!
DaveyGair
This looks superb, I'm not usually taken by civil aircraft subjects but I really like this. Davey.

John_W
Very nice. Wouldn't have realised it was Dutch if you hadn't put it in the thread title...
ajmm
Lovely. I’ve built this same kit but in RAF Desert Air Force camo. Mine caused me some problems though I was happy with it in the end. Yours is glorious. Nicely done!

stringbag
All you need now is a 747 in the same colour. Big Orange meets little Orange. Lovely result Martijn. Chris.
