Bending some metal...

The replacement skylight looks pretty good.

Somewhere during the last 2 years, 1 kid and a house move I lost a lifeboat support, so I had to make a replacement. I'm really bad at scratch building.

The original

Product seems a bit long...

That's better...

Slowly slowly...

It's up on the pedestal, and looks pretty good to me.

Wheelhouse with ladders and railings installed.

Test fitting some railings and ladders on the aft deck

And the foremast being test fitted as well, before being festooned with bits and bobs.

And my little helper. Luckily he's to big to fit on a table or in a box, so no cat-like disasters here

His hour or two down here in the hobby area is spent sleeping, as it's one of his few breaks from the 2 year old...

Life boats have been mass produced and installed on the top decks. 4 more to go along the sides hanging from davits.

Finishing up the railings on the superstructure.

The mast fit really well, and need no glue to stay on. So I'll leave them off/dry fitted until I can do some rigging. I probably won't do all the rigging, but rather a limited number of lines to, from and between the main masts.

I'm looking for some advice as to what type of rigging material is best? I have some monofilament line, but I'm open to suggestions. Never rigged anything before...

Thanks,

Ken

Another small update today.

Made up some of the line spools, at least that's what I think they are based on this pic:

My attempts

In place

Custom made display case for the mighty Olympia was delivered today. Came out great.

And since this would be my first attempt at rigging anything, I decided to build a biplane as well to practice on. Going to use black and white thin EZ-Line.

All the PE apart from the rigging is installed. The boarding ladders were a bit of a pain.

I have to get a different type of CA glue for the rigging, The one I have now is a gel, and not suitable.

Thanks for looking.

Calling it done!

Hand painted the nameplate, that was a pain.

The plaque was sprayed black and the details scraped clean with a toothpick. Happy with the result..
