Tupolev Tu-16 K-10 (Trumpeter 1/144)

Recommended Posts

I was going to do a County Class destroyer for this GB but I have changed my mind after examining the stash. This will be one of my two builds: the Tupolev Tu-16 Badger, the K-10 variant which is going to fire insanely big missiles at the NATO surface fleet during this Group Build eyeball to eyeball episode....

This seems like a really nice kit.

This is an excerpt from Wikipedia, just to verify this monster belongs in the 60s:

"Badger C (Tu-16K-10) – Another Naval Aviation variant, units of this version carried a single AS-2 Kipper/K-10S anti-ship missile. 216 built in 1958–1963. It differed from other variants in having a radar in a nose. "

Finally after a long series of trips and other commitments I am back onto this kit. I put together the rear fuselage today. Fits pretty well though there is a bit of a line where the wing section and the tail section join (just behind the tape). I think it will not be an easy fix so I will probably live with it after a bit of filler.

Nice to see you back at this one. Will you get uninterupted time for it now?

Not really, I have another business trip next week, but after that I think I will be ok until the end of the GB. I've already got every conceivable shade of silver spray paint ready to go, and it's a pretty simple kit, so once I get the cockpit done and attached it should be fairly smooth progress.
