"Looking towards Point 174" - Tiger I “131” in Tunisia Vignette

Recommended Posts

Tiger ‘131’ is probably one of the best-known Tiger 1s and is currently the only operational Tiger 1 in the world. Captured by the British in Tunisia, in April 1943, it is now at The Tank Museum at Bovington, UK.

As part of this project for the MTO II GB, I wanted to include some figures representing some of the crew and possibly their commander. There is still and air of mystery around the crew and some sources suggest that at least some of the crew survived the war but their identities have not, as far as I am aware, been revealed yet.

My vignette is set before the capture of "131" and I was wondering what it must have been like for the crew as they were preparing for their encounter with the enemy. I have tried to show them planning their next move.

This final photo kind of represents what I wanted to achieve. I wanted to do one of those scenes that looks a little staged but didn't want the crew just looking at the camera.

It would be interesting to know what happened.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to my build thread.

Superb stuff Stix.

Now, Tiger and figures aside, (All excellent) that little irregular-shaped base is just perfect. It sets the scene but emphasises the size of the beast at the same time. Nice clumps of grass, great sand/grit/mud/stone and those cactii turned out good didn't they? The bright green contrasts nicely with everything else and adds that extra spark.

Rearguards,

Badder

Stix that is absolutely stunning, the black and white shot shows just how realistic it is as it looks like it is from the pages of a wartime German newspaper.

Extremely well done mate, you just get better and better.

Hi Craig. You are far too kind as always but thank you.

Nice one. I read somewhere many years ago that one of the German tanks at Bovington is reputedly haunted by 'Herman the German.' 131 perhaps? Anyway; ghosts? Piff!

You never know!! There could be, although I don't think anyone died during the attack that disabled '131'.

Kind regards,

Stix

Superb result, not much more to say that hasn't been said. I particularly like how you've achieved how the beast of a machine sits heavily on it's tracks.
