I finished the Meng kit Fiat G.91R this morning around 08:00...

Here it is...the Fiat G.91R, 51a Squadriglia, 14º Gruppo, Aeronautica Militare Italiana, Istrana, 1962.  It was a fun and lovely little kit to build.  Some good exterior detail, not too much else.  Well moulded, no flash, nice plastic, and I used the Xtradecal set to portray this specific aircraft.  All the paints are Vallejo--either Air or standard (black).  In the end I had to add some weight to the nose but it was very slight.  In the underside photo you can see it crammed in the wheel well. Not much, maybe .25gm?  I liked it so much I have another one coming from the Big Yellow Store.  I want to make the German model, or maybe the Greek...not sure.

Entered into service in 1961 and remained in service for 35 years.  I'm impressed.

I kept it pretty clean, with little wear and tear, as I imagine they were well taken care of.  For the era in which it was designed (1950s) I found it to be quite modern and sleek.  Is it wrong to say it has a very stylish look?  I think not...

The Spider Veloce of fighter planes, I think...sweet little thing.

And with some of her cousins...looking rather sexy...

That's a fun link.  Imagine...dropping into Venice for some grilled razor clams and a glass of Pinot Grigio!  Va bene!

Sometimes a sow's ear will always be a sow's ear, regardless the stitching...Mig-19S, MisterCrapCraft, 1/72nd, Vallejo Air, odd assortment of expensive after market goodies, too many hours for little joy, IMHO.

If someone knows of a better quality Mig-19 in 1/72nd, please tell me.  I would love to do this beast justice.  To think I wasted all those aftermarket bits on this...😭

I feel like I need to apologize...I seem to build models faster that perhaps I should, but I just can't help myself.  I really do have a social life outside of the bench!

Here is my version of Revell's very fine 1/72nd scale Hawker Hunter FGA.9, No. 54 Squadron, RAF, flying out of West Raynham, June 1968.  All the paints are Vallejo Air and it is completely OOB.  I have weathered using Flory-Wash and I have tried not to make it dirty, but rather lovingly used.  Not an aftermarket nugget to found on this build!  You don't need them.

It really is a fine kit--well engineered and easy to assemble although one must take care with some of the parts as they are extremely small and can easily be discarded with old sprue.  Overall detail is excellent.  The decals are printed well and respond beautifully with Micro-Sol.  Care should be taken if one is building 'wheels down', to cut the decals on the underside registration numbers so they fit properly.  The instructions are easy to follow and the kit offers two versions, the second being and FGA.9 from No. 8 Squadron, Aden, 1963.  All in all, a joy to build and finish.

Another mean SOB from the cold marches of the Soviet Union...I give you KoPro's Mig-21SM, 'Red 26', from the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia, August 1968.

This was a fun kit and although there were some issues, they were minor and easily overcome.  It built up into a fine example of the most produced jet airplane ever.  I have yet to build the Eduard kit (I will soon) but this was a good place for me to begin.  I know a few building pitfalls I will avoid that both processes will present.  All the paints are Vallejo and Vallejo Air.

The decals were alright...a little too thin and delicate for my taste and the stencils were terrible.  Do not use any Micro-Sol on these!  They will melt.  The stencil diagram had numbers that did not correspond to those on the sheet, etc...so I did my best with them.  Thankfully you cannot read what they say anyway.  There were no stencils provided for the wings.  I have encountered this dilemma before.  It's as if they forgot to add a small sheet of decals.  Naughty KoPro!

Care must be taken when assembling the end product so that one does not snap off the small spindly bits in just handling it.  I suggest investing in some brass aftermarket aerials.  I will next time.  Here 'tis...Red 26...

Ok...here is the Airfix 1/72nd scale F-86E(M) 342 Sq, Hellenic Air Force, from 1960.  The decals are from Icarus and were fine if a trifle thick on the roundels and too numerous for this kit.  If I had scribed a bunch of panels...but I didn't.  All the paints are Vallejo and Vallejo Air.  This was a good kit and something good for someone coming back to the fold, on par with the new Spitfire tooling, I suppose.   Any errors are mine and mine only.

I gave it the kit's full assortment of bombs, etc...

I kept this pretty clean (I imagine the Greeks did as well) and because I primed it all in gloss black, the deeper panel lines show up nicely without any wash.  I'm happy with it.  I hope you are all happy too!

Damn!  Just realized I didn't paint the wingtip lights...use your imagination please.  I'll do it, but I'm not going to photograph it again!

Onwards and upwards!

lightning F2a 92sqn RAF Glutersloh 1968-69, not 100% accurate given the tiny wing commander letters would be for the former C/O but a triviality.  Halfords Rattle Can Silver (and White), Vallejo Blue&Black and Humbrol Chrome, Gunmetal and Olive Drab, finished with Winsor and Newton Satin Varnish

Hobbyboss kit and a good one too, i got the decals from peddinghaus, they're ok, you have to cut them out of one big decal sheet individually so a couple of scalpel blades are a must, no other extras, all oob, mr hobby paints laquer thinner, ak extreme metals on the tanks
