stevehnz
Looking good. As a camo nut, this scheme appeals greatly to me. I like the look of how you're handling it. Steve.
bianfuxia
Main painting is done now following a last coat of the brown. Still some touching up to do. The canopy is just sitting there, not stuck on yet.
bianfuxia
I still have to do the touch up painting, and add the wheels and canopy. But I came home at lunchtime today and did all the decals I plan to do (there are a few smaller markings which I think, based on how finicky these decals were, I won't bother with). Here are two shots. They are still wet with Mr Mark Softer in these photos. Hoping to finish this puppy off tonight.
Silenoz
Nice so far, brushpainting isn't that easy at all... this camo version was only 1 aircraft for a few years. Made this particular aircraft in his farewell jacket recently...
bianfuxia
Yes, brush painting can be tricky but I find on such a small model with a camo scheme like this it's easier than using spray cans (I don't have an airbrush). Tonight I added all the bits I realised I'd forgotten about but which of course would have fallen off by now had I attached them earlier. So all that is left is painting these bits and the last touch ups. The tiny tail wheel sadly popped out of the tweezers, never to be seen again. Hopefully my cool little pilots are good enough not to tailstrike this thing. I contemplated using scratch built parts for the wheel doors or the grab handles on the nose but I thought OOB was more in keeping with the spirit of this build. Hopefully I will finish this one tomorrow night.
bianfuxia
And now I just caught up that the GB goes until 7/10. Well, I need to finish this by Thursday anyway because we are going away then so I will still aim for tomorrow...
Silenoz
sorry to disappoint, but MT-35 didn't have the handle-like thingies at the nose, these were for French aircraft: Rear canopy was also solid white Edited September 18, 2018 by Silenoz
bianfuxia
thanks, it's not a disappointment. They are easy to remove. I am building this OOB from the instructions anyway. But thanks for posting the pic, because I can still take the handles off easily.
bianfuxia
I'm calling this done. I will take some proper photos for the gallery later. This was a good fun little kit. For Airfix from 1975 it was very easy to build and has a nice level of detail - maybe inaccurate, but nice - in the cockpit. Ironically the only part I didn't like was the modern decals. Thanks to Silenoz for the picture of the real thing above. I removed the nose handles but decided to leave the rear window clear. There is only so much time in my life! Sadly I have lost the tiny tail wheel; since the photos above were taken I have also painted the exhaust areas. This was a great GB and I enjoyed being in it. Thanks!

As easy to build and finish as any modern kit - can't say that about all vintage Airfix kits!
Rabbit Leader
Nice finish to what looks like quite a nice looking kit. Good to see a little detail in the wheel wells, quite a nice touch and adds to my claims that these mid-seventies Airfix kits were quite good for their time. Cheers and well modelled..
