A South Korean team has located the wreck of Cruiser Dmitrii Donskoi, scuttled in the aftermath of the Battle of Tsushima.

The wreck was discovered on 15 July 2018 by the South Korean treasure hunting company, Shinil Group, and international experts 1,400 feet (430 m) below the surface. A joint operation by companies from China, Canada and the UK will attempt to retrieve 200 tons of gold worth £100 billion (c. US$133 billion), which they believe to be inside the wreck, in late 2018. They have pledged to give 10% of the gold back to Russia, where a campaign group has demanded the full amount.
