This is Miniart's new FL 282 V-6 Kolibri (Hummingbird). A very nice, albeit extremely fiddly kit to put together. It's also an incurable tailsitter, with nowhere much to add any weight up front, which is why it's on a base (pinned via the nose wheel). The kit's very well detailed and, as far as I can tell, pretty accurate. It's a straight OOB build apart from the seat harness, where the PE belts supplied with the kit were substituted for some HGW fabric ones.

Followed the build on the Modelling News and as ever the end result is just an absolute delight - as inspiring as ever.  The presentation on the "wooden" target circle just completes a perfect piece.

Same here and totally agree with you.

Just a shame it isn't in 1/48, i'd purchase one myself then.

Thanks guys,

Final assembly must have been a nightmare as you run out of places to grasp it without knocking something off.

It was. The instrument panel and the yellow striped strut were the worst culprits. They were both knocked off at least 2 or 3 times, in one case while I was taking the final photos.

Completely agree Pete.

Another Modelling News follower here, who has unashamedly cribbed the tips contained therein.

Fiddly.......Nah.......not b. much !! A bit like trying to handle a butterfly !! The handling and clean up of all the struttery is an exercise in breath-holding, especially for a fumble fisted, short sighted old git like me.

Using the rudder as a 'handle' has resulted in its  departure from the fin at least twice thus far, and I've only got as far as joining the cockpit framework to what passes as a fuselage.

Nevertheless, it's a fascinating and challenging model and if I can get half as close to this and that elsewhere modelled by Brian [Mr.T], I will be more than happy.

Great builds, both !

Nice work. Who's going to do the first Red Bull scheme? :)

I built the Huma 1/48th version years ago, and it was very fiddly. It is also a tail sitter, only just balancing on the nose wheel if the rotor blades are in the right place. If I did another one, I'd be removing as much plastic as possible from inside the rear fuselage, and making as much space as possible inside the engine to cram weight in there.
