billn53
I am using blue, high-density foam board to create a base for my current project (see post #20 of my WIP, here: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235039696-pegasus-nautilus-1144/ ). I chose this material as I understand it is often used for simulating waves for model ship bases. My question is this: What is a good product for gluing foam board to other materials (e.g., wood)? I was led to believe that rubber (contact) cement would work, but when I tried using that my foam began to dissolve away: Thanks! Dads203
Try PVA fella, it won’t melt the foam, won’t cure very fast but it should work.
Troy Smith
Try high grade wood work PVA, I use this https://www.axminster.co.uk/wudcare-5-minute-pva-301356 Great for canopies too. PS sorry, just noticed you are in the USA, but I'm sure there are similar products, try a hardware store, or a lumber yard.
billn53
Thanks Dads & Troy. I guess it's off to the store tomorrow for some PVA. Hopefully I'll be able to disassemble my current mess without too much difficulty. Bill
longshanks
I agree PVA wood glue is the one to go for. If you can get the water resistant type. A tip for working with foam board. If you paint or PVA on one side do the other side. If you don't it will bend like a banana Kev
billn53
Thanks to everyone for your help! The PVA wood glue worked like a champ. Here's my base (not yet finished), rescued from disaster: 🙂
