Mig-23ms Academy 1/72 Libya

Recommended Posts

Hi! this is my last creation, a Mig-23MS from the libyan air force. The kit is the well known Academy, a copy of the hasegawa mold but with engraved panel lines. It´s not the perfect kit, but it depicts a mig-23MS, wich had a less powerful radar, other avionics cuts and a shorter range of missiles (iy¿t could only fire the Atoll missiles, the soviet sidewinder). So in other words it was a mig-23 with the capabilities of the mig-21.

Here is the final plane: It was hand painted with humbrol enamels. The libyans roundels were also painted, and the decals came from spares.

Bruno, nice to see one built by the modeller to the best of his ability and not relying on bags of resin, etched brass and aftermarket decals etc. . Well done.

A very nice looking MiG.  Excellent work on the painted roundels and a very attractive colour scheme that really shows off the MiG's sleek lines.  It sounds like Libya opted for the bargain version of the type.

I'd say you nailed it!

Good camo, abd realustic load out!

The Lybian used them a lotm and even lost 2 of them against F-14s, no?

Yes! it was this version of the mig. Years later they adquired the ML version. The originals MS that served in the lybian air force are now on Sudan's air force, and after decades of just being stored they will be flying soon! Here's a pic of the new painted Sudanese Mig-23MS

Sorry it was sudan air force, not Chad. In this link you can read about this resurrection process (http://spioenkop.blogspot.com/2016/09/back-from-retirement-sudans-mig-23s.html), one already crashed.

Nice Mig{s}, you've done the 23 really well, I do like your camo work, the Russian 27 looks really smart too. :) So, when can we expect to see a Sudanese one?  :D

Steve.

Maybe the 2-seater?
