badger
Progress! Lots of little bits done tonight that no one will probably notice. The standing figure had a sudden transfer from 3rd to 4th division as I discovered 48th RTR (operators of the churchill) were part of this, so it made sense for the infantryman to be from the same division. This meant an overpaint of his unit insignia. The tank got the exhausts drilled out (cheers Sarge!) and some pastel weathering to vary the rust tones. It then got a black wash around the suspension springs and once this dried I used some pastels to add dust around the lower hull to blend it into the groundwork. A set of etched sighting vanes were added to the turret and painted and the headlight lenses painted. Other than aerials (and refitting that hatch cover!) the tank is done. I then did a bit on the crew, painting all their unit and rank badges which I rather enjoyed. Just need to paint their berets, headphones and goggles and they're done. The base needs a final varnish and that should be it. More tomorrow hopefully All the best Ben

Really wanted to get this done last night but have a staff training day today and didn't want to be falling asleep too much during it. I've knocked that hatch off at least 4 times now! Always the same one, never the others! 2 hours ago, Ripaman said: Hi Ben very nice model, do like the Churchill as well they just seam to grow on on me Regards Richard Many thanks for the kind comments - much appreciated. Interestingly I have just compared the churchill to a sample of scc.2 paint in Mike Starmers book and the filters I used have darkened it so that it is much closer to the sample. Result! It's not a perfect match but I'm happy as the original colour was way off! All the best Ben Edited July 12, 2018 by badger
