GMK
With different radars (CEA - Australian), combat system (AEGIS - US), and combat interface (SAAB 9LV - Swedish/Australian), 5” gun (Mk 45/44 - US), and all nine being built in Australian shipyards - the Hunter class is more of a cousin to the Type 26 class. http://www.dsca.mil/sites/default/files/mas/australia_18-26.pdf

But yes, excellent endorsement in time for the Canadian selection process; co-operation strengthened with a valuable ally; and dare we dream? Possible future additions to the eight already planned for the RN. Good news day, hurrah!
