It all looks pretty good to me. Remember that the fuselage shape should look odd. The engine was installed at an angle so the jetpipe had a kink in it. Shalako
Hi Enzo, Well the photos don't help to see how fine are the engraved details on the kit's surfaces, that is why I'm a bit confused about this kit's quality. I guess since the price is good I could buy the kit and then compare it with the old Italaeri!!! However, I'm also a bit disappointed about the fact that Sword doesn't offer the cameras' bay. Probably Eduard or someone that produces resin sets will do one!!! Cheers Shalako

Assuming accuracy is okay I will be happy as it is a short run/low tech product. If you then want more detail you can scratch build. That's a "sensitive" and painful subject!!! I had this in mind when I bought a few years ago the Italaeri RF. However, with the new Sword kit I was expecting to see a lot more details. Nonetheless, I do have the curiosity to compare these two and see how good or not, the Italaeri kit is. Cheers Shalako
RidgeRunner
Maybe but it is, after all, a Sword. It is pretty normal from tbat perspective, including the detail level. Martin I just hope they now do a F-84F
Robert
If anyone has the Tanmodel kit does it have the cameras and if so a picture would be appreciated. Robert
Shalako
That's true Martin. I have the company's 1/48 T-38 and the resin cockpit is superb! Not to mention the dimensions' accuracy level. Ahh... the F-84F...! Something tells me that their next kit (probably depending on how this one will sell) will be the F-84F. Fingers crossed

Did anyone else noticed it? Perhaps its only the specific photos that give me a certain notion that something is not right. Any thoughts? Perhaps someone could do a comparison with some 1/72 drawings of the actual aircraft? Just my two cents. I think the boxart is off a bit with too pronounced spine and too narrow fuselage. Sprues look very close to real thing photos. Maybe that's the reason.

Let's just wait to see if someone with more knowledge on the subject has something more to add to our conversation. Do you know a book that gives accurate drawings of the aircraft? Or, perhaps a website? Edited September 12, 2018 by Shalako

RidgeRunner
Maybe but they have produced a modern RF-84F kit ! I can live with a few blemishes as long as the basis is good, and it appears to be. Martin

There are very, very few. Even fewer with drawings! If I’m wrong and anyone knows one I’d be happy and I’d buy one immediately! . There is a Warpaint issue. Shalako
While looking on the web to find either a book or some technical drawings for the RF, I found two books: One from the 'Aircam Aviation Series' but, without any drawings in 1/72 (at least), and another one from Siegfried Wache that has some in-scale drawings of the RF, HOWEVER I don't know how accurate these are. Shalako
By the way, has anyone bought the kit to tell us about his "first-impressions"?

RidgeRunner
On the subject of books, assuming you love 50's jets like me, this book is worth looking out. It is an old OOP by Dave Menard "Before Centuries - USAFE Fighters 1948-1959". It is pictorially great and covers F-47s, F-80s, F-86s, F/RF-84s, etc.... Wez
The Aerofax book has a set of plans which I think are to 1/72nd but I don't know how reliable and trustworthy they are. If I get time this weekend I'll dig them out and do a comparison.

By the way, I think there is a Scale Aviation Modeller that has scale drawings for the F-84F and probably for the RF too. Just checked. The following link shows an old issue of SAM however it has drawings only for the F --> https://archive.org/details/Scale_Aviation_Modeller_2003-02 Edited September 13, 2018 by Shalako
RidgeRunner
It's the Aerofax Minigraph No.15 that you'd need but it is rare and therefore expensive. I have it and could scan a set of plans if there are any in there. Give me time if so. Get the kit in your hands as a starter ;).
