That little Fokker...

Recommended Posts

Magnificent! That must be extremely small in 1/144. The rigging and detail look excellent. I have the Airfix 1/72, which I have been putting off starting because of the rigging ........... shame on me!

Proof it's in 1/144 scale: (shot taken yesterday before it was finished)

The rigging and wheel spokes are thinner than human hair, I use 0.05mm Kanthal A1 Nichrome. The rigging using this material is quite easy but the spoked wheels are challenging.

I'm considering getting some diazepam or other muscle relaxants to help steady my hands for future builds.

Rigging and wire spokes in 1:144th must be the ultimate definition of masochism *.

Stunning…

Kind regards,

Thank you everyone. I do feel pleased with the build. It's only my 2nd WW1 aircraft build so I hope to improve with each build.

I must now decide what to build next.

Masochism would make me scratch build and rig this:

But I really should have a bit of a break and do something simple.

I have all Valom kits with exception of the DR1.

I've recently built an Albatros so I have the choice of:

-Nieuport 11

-Nieuport 17

-Spad 13

-Fokker 7

-Sopwith Pup

-Sopwith Camel

-Hanriot HD

-Rumpler C 4

-RAF SE5a

-Bristol F2b

Simply amazing.

For the next one the Bristol F2b gets my vote.

Andrew

The F2b kit is one of the better Valom kits.

I have found that half the Valom kits have crap recessed rib lines and somewhat hand carved looking details, the other half (newer releases?) have properly formed wings and crisper details, the F2b is one of them.

Generally the 1/144 WW1 range is a bit depressing, Valom are the best ones so far.

I got excited seeing thre range of Sram resin kits that were about but looking at pictures of the kits they look poor finish and have nasty one piece fuselages.

There's a few odds and sods resin kits from different manufacturers but I can see myself doing some scratch building.

I should start another business doing ww1 kits...

Also, can you smell the castor oil?
