Nick C
Thought I’d have a go at an AFV as a change from ships. Academy 1/35 Warrior 2003 to go alongside an AFV Club Scimitar I built a few years ago. The Warrior will have Eduard PE along with Resin, PE and figures from Accurate Armour and a replacement Rarden barrel from Armour Scale as well as Fruil tracks The Scimitar will have replacement tracks from Fruil as the kit tracks were always a bit tight. Eventually they'll go on a simple desert base together for display. The builds nearly finished so the below are catch up pics. Various PE and resin The Scimitar Axles fitted, adjusted for vehicle ride height as mentioned in several blogs, and moulded on detail being removed Hull pretty finished from various angles Track test fitted - instructions say 90 links per side but 85 give about the right tension I think Turret coming together And the 2 side by side Cheers Nick

Hi Ant, The Scimitar figures are the Accurate Armour 'Modern UK AFV Crew - desert/Gulf 'set FS01, for the warrior I've got the Accurate ArmourModern British Warrior Crew (Inf’helmets) set FS05. 23 hours ago, beefy66 said: Looking great so far Nick any plans for a diorama base for the two of them Beefy Cheers Beefy, I'm thinking of just a simple desert landscape but we'll see. Nick C
Slow progress but finally found some modelling time; Most of the assembly done, pretty much ready for painting; Primer applied (Halfords spray) ANd new boots for the Scimitar; Using a wheel mask for the first time, great piece of kit; First coat of colour on everything; Tissue soaked in PVA to make 'hessian' headlight covers - the Warrior head lamps aren't great so I want to cover them up; Cheers Nick

robgizlu
Super build - it actually looks quite a nice kit. I'm surprised we don't see more of these built. The head light covers look very effective Rob

Looking at on-line pics of the Warrior I don't think it's yellow enough (what did you use) but it matches the Scimitar which was done a while ago so I'm stuck with it. Idea for the covers came from this pic, the colour scheme is quite yellow; Cheers Nick
Nick C
Bits of detail added and some weathering and washes to break up the base colour; Tool added; And the side applique armoured panels fitted; More weathering/highlights and some pastels to go on and the stowage next. Hi Kris - yep, these dudes from AA; Been working on the kit stowage, mindfull of turret traverse. Got some extra 25l oil drums from AA and some GPMP ammo boxes, both of which come with decals to dress up the oils drums and kit supplied ammo boxes; Had to move the large green case in the end but the brown ones stayed here; Added some of the GPMG ammo cases - one of the guys inside must have a gimpy; I wan to add the IR recognition panels, but the AFV club Scimitar doesn't have any (although there are loads of pics with em fitted) and the kit only has enough for one vehicle, so I thought I'd try moulding some resin spares. With hindsight it'd have been cheaper to buy a another kit - but that'd be wasteful and I have the stuff now if I need it in future; Parts to copy; Mounted on a runner; Mould box made from 1mm plasticard; Mould poured and left overnight; Worked out alright; Painted up and fitted (with stowage in final positions on the warrior) - the white needs toning down and weathering; Fruil tracks ready to be fitted and weathered to both vehicles after they've a coat of flat varnish; Cheers Nick

Nick C
Here you go Kris, AA CVRT crew resin figures. I did them a couple of years ago, first resin figures I tried so they're a bit rough and ready. One of the things I liked was no eyes to paint - they're all wearing goggles! The guy on the left here always looked like he needs something to do with his hands so he's going to get a map to hold The vehicles are coming on, tracks fitted and pigment weathering; They're going to be laid out like this on a simple base - the recce vehicle 'pointing out' something to the Warrior; Warrior crew and tow cable and some final weathering and they'll be done. phildagreek
Looking very smart, AA do some good figures & they really bring the vehicle to life. Good effort.

Nick C
Thanks all for the likes and comments. Crew getting painted; Base coat for the uniform is Tamiya XF 57 Buff, with the face and hands getting a coat of Tamiya XF 59 Desert Yellow; Eyes painted; Camouflage added in Tamiya XF 52 flat earth and a thin oil wash of Raw Umber on the faces; Flesh added in oils; Highlights added to the faces and goggles painted; The figures need to be left for week or so to dry before a final wash to the face and body and picking out straps. Scimitar crewman got his map and the warrior's got tow cables from picture hanging wire; Base next and it'll be done. Cheers Nick
