JeroenS
Hi all, I completed the VW bus this weekend, it's my first vehicle build after my return to the hobby. It's not perfect but I had a lot of fun building it and I learned a lot. I'll be taking these experiences into my next builds for sure. It's a large kit with a load of parts, but the instructions are clear and it goes together quite well. The only things I couldn't get to fit properly were the doors, both the front doors and the side doors. The front doors just wouldn't stay closed so I glued them in place and that looks a lot better. On both sides, there's a bit of a gap between the door and the front of the body so I reckon it can get a bit chilly in there 😉 The side doors overlap a little bit, when I closed them a window popped out so I'm leaving them open. Other than that, I'm quite pleased with the outcome. I've never finished a model to this state before. The body colour is Tamiya TS-10, it's called French Blue, combined with TS-27 (Matt white as a base) and TS-26 (Pure white as a finish). I used TS-13 for the clear and also applied a little bit of finishing polish in places. For the interior I used various shades of grey (hmm...) from Tamiya, and also enamels from Revell and Humbrol. Lastly, I used Molotov Chrome and also some of their acrylic markers in various colours. Really handy stuff. Well, enough talk, here are some pics. Thanks for watching and feel free to comment. Spiny
Excellent work. I've enjoyed following your progress, and it's hard to believe that this is your first build on your return. You should be very proud
keefr22
Lovely bus Jeroen, I really like the colour scheme & your paintjob looks very smooth! Missed your build thread, so I'll have a read tomorrow! Nice work! Keith
Plastheniker
Even if the larger scale may have made work a bit easier this must be the most beautiful Sambabus I have ever seen. Perfect colour choice and perfect craftmanship!

Perfect colour choice and perfect craftmanship! Thanks Jürgen, coming from you that means a lot! Let's hope it's not a one hit wonder 😆 Still much to learn though, and you're right, the scale does help and I'm actually glad I started with a big one. morty_3333
Hi Jeroen! Excellent result on Your Bus, it is a credit to You Sir, after a long break from modelling! I had to chuckle when I saw the toothpick propping the engine cover open, on My full-scale Camper I had a cut-down piece of Broom handle stowed inside the engine bay for that very same reason!!!!! Scale fidelity indeed!! More of the same please!! Keep Sticking! Cheers, Pete
spruecutter
Very, very nice! I think the Tamiya rattle cans give excellent results for smooth gloss finishes. The paint shrinks to a nice tight finish and dries very quickly. Regards Richard C
