At Least !! Seafire FR.47, Triumph in Korea

Recommended Posts

Hello Dears,

Finally, after all the setback with the painting, the decals the varnish and the inclusion of resin parts in the kit !!

I can call her finished ! However, I'll try to have some better pics tomorrow in daylight, if not in the sun...

So let's go back in August 1950 aboard HMS Triumph near the coast of Korea !

I can recommend the article of Mr tony O'Toole in MAM of March 2005, it has been very inspirational for me, Many Thanks Tony !

However, the Seafire was considered as a second line aircraft, they were the first (and only) british forces in this part of the world

And they did great, the Seafire have been pushed far over their limits in order to fulfill the assigned missions.

The seafire 47 were not alone, the Triumph also carried WWII vétérans as the Fairey Fireflies Mk I...

Hope that her mate will join her soon since I've started a Mk I...

VP480 was flown by commissioned pilot Richard A. "Dick" Peters,

I used a CMK interior

a Quickboost cowling and exhaust to correct the kit

a Barracudacast propeller to correct the Airfix ones

a Falcon canopy since I read that the one of the kit has to be corrected too

            and a Freightdog decal sheet

Not to mention a respectable amount of putty and PPP

a load of very explicits expressions...

but all in all it has been a good kit, an old Airfix kit !

Unnecessary to say that I'm not completely satisfied about my painting, but it has been an epic journey

The chemical reaction with the canned Tamiya varnish has ruined the kit and I managed to save her...

This struggle took a toll on the painting job.

Not really visible but I Added a camera an some support in the camera bay !

The stripes have been painted, then as the freightdog sheet did'nt include the roundels, I took the Airfix ones 😖

Almost transparent white on the decals, so paint rectified !

ah paint are as usual Xtracrylics ones, the stripes are Life color paints !

The rockets are OOB but improved a bit by sanding and so !

And now let's have a family shot ??

Not really Alpha and Omega but almost...

The .47 is no longer a Spitfire and it's clearly visible here, or let's say that there has been EPO, Hormones and body building !!

Or maybe a Seafire trained by ex DDR swiming trainers ! 🤣

My FAA collection today...

ETO, MTO and Korea and more to come… I will not dare to say soon !

Ok Dears, Thank for watching, I made my best to correct the kit and have a good rendition of this brute of a Seafire !

I'm open to comments and yes I already know that I should learn to have a better use of my airbrush 😩

Have a great modelling time Dears !!

See you soon !

Sincerely.

I've had a few clear coat dramas over the years, too. Yours looks to have come up the goods - nicely done!

Great job.

I'm only on my second model and yet I already know the pain of having a clear coat wreck a perfectly good paint job. Nice recovery.

Hello Bell,

When I saw the mess, I was about to test fly the Seafire..

But thanks to the great advices received from this great forum, I did take some respite...

And saved her, not pristine but good enough I think !

Thank for the kind words.

Hello Keit,

Thank for looking on, Usually I try to use the varnishes of the same brand than the paint...

Here I was glad with tose canned Tamiya, But 2 glitches are enough for me.

First time it occur in between Life color paint and now with Xtracrylics...

I'll try the Xtracrylic varnish on Xtracrylic paints soon, Let's see...
