A-10 Thunderbolt II

Recommended Posts

A little tip for anyone building this kit. When assembling the main landing gear you need to use 2 x part no. 16 for each one as it only shows it once in the instructions. It seems pretty obvious now but at the time I was scratching my head for a few minutes.Even though you can see part of one peeping out it didn't register until I had looked at photos of the real thing.

Thanks Håkan. The gun might be better displayed on it's own but I think I'll put it in the aircraft.

Update time. This has been pretty trouble free so far. Had a few problems today with the primer drying in the airbrush and it still needs another coat but I'm looking forward to getting some top coat on.

Despite looking at pages and pages of photos online I've still no clue what weapons etc. I'm going to add. 😄

I did a mixed load of rockeyes, mavericks, Lg bombs, sidewinders, and a electronics pod.

I think I'll go down a similar route Dennis, everything but the kitchen sink. 😄

Dang! That was quick.

I must say that the cockpit and landing gear looks the part.

When it comes to armament on a A-10 with all those pylons and then nothing hanging from them?

Unthinkable!

Go for broke :Tasty:

Thanks Christer. To be honest there isn't much to it.

Agreed, it needs to look the part.

Update time. I've been sidetracked a bit by figures but this is how it's looking at present.

I've airbrushed heavily thinned coats of Mr Hobby H308 (FS 36375) onto a black basecoat. I think another couple of passes should do it for the light grey.

So, and what happened from the left aileron?

Clumsiness, that'a what happened. 😉 I knocked it out while painting but it's back the correct way round now.

Well spotted. 😄
