Larry, at least in case of A-101 it looks that camera was situated just behind pilot. In post #2, on top drawings there are presented sections of fuselage. On third from top small sections (upper left corner of picture) you may see a vertical tube-like shape which looks like camera to me. In the bottom view there is a small square a bit assymetric in the middle of fuselage - it is perhaps an opening for camera. But I am not 100% sure about this interpretation. In case of A-100 there is nothing on the bottom of fuselage like that... So I do not know where is camera in A-100... :(

Hi Jerzy,

Thanks for that info. Too bad I don't have such detailed drawings for the A-100.

Oh well, if I ever locate the kit in my stash, I can start the research again.

Larry you may try to ask Jan Polc on thread about KP model. Maybe Czech collegues know more about Aero machines...

Hi,

I had some break due to a duty trip for a week. After return I did some sanding, filling, sanding of fuselage of A 101.

Now it looks like that (with engine already glued in):

Hi, I have just painted A 100.

My interpretation of Czech/Slovak khaki green is Humbrol 30 with added some (?) red to make it brownish.

I have to pause a bit with finishing A-100. It appeared that old Czech decals I have in my stash has reversed colours (blue double cross, red background of circle). So I have just bought Blue Rider set Br 220 directly on their web page

 br220_show.jpg

BTW - here you may see that made similar mistake in colours and then provided replacement. So perhaps this was a comon mistake which followed a mistake from some early colour profile.

Some week for delivery, I think...

Meanwhile I will go on with my DH 9 (on Group Build) and A-101 (here).

Engaging works as always Jerzy! :thumbsup2:

I love the nose and engine shapes on that A-100: they almost look like a piece of Art Deco design work. Your paintwork on the wooden prop looks superb.

Thanks,

The nose for many V-engines machines of early 1930s. is a nice sculpture, but indeed A-100 has particulary nicely shapes.  BTW - I am a bit surprised, taht no resin part for the grill (or for whole cooler) of A-100 is available - the original KP model has it extremly simplified  .

On Saturday I bought Blue Rider set of Slovak decals BR 220 directly on their web page.

 BR220_4.jpg?t=1514377070

I paid 5 pounds for whole set with delivery to Poland. I was not sure how it is with postal, so I wrote e-mail to them and it appered that they have world wide postal free! So it is a big surprise and the company is really generous for he modellers abroad. Many thanks Blue Rider (I hope that they will arrive ;) )

J-W,

I've got that set of decals - I used it to do my Slovakian Bf-109's. I found the decals were really good - thin, but very opaque and spot-on in register. I'm sure it will arrive, but if the worst happens, I'm happy to give you the bits you require from mine, assuming I haven't used what you need!

Mitch, many thanks for your kind offert and precaution about risk of silvering. After yesterday's exchanege of PM with Blue Rider I am pretty sure that they will arrive. They said that it was already sent to me on Monday.

Blue rider decals No. Br 220 arrived yesterdy ! :)

Today I applied them.

43721273042_4a4fb68aeb_b.jpg

The scheme in set of decals is that one:

blue-rider-br220-slovak-air-force-wwii-a

But I decided to do machine with German crosses added during Polish campaign in September 1939

83_3_b1.jpg

This machine has know individual number (A100.09, written  below cockpit),,

The Blue Rider decals fits OK, they need some softering what I done using Micro Set by Microscale. Then varnish.

Likely very soon on RFI :)

And go back to A-101...

Hi

So back to more serious work - the scratch conversion to get A-101.

I started tio reconstruct or restore the surfaces.

Today I did some modeling of surface of top wing.

I started with streched sprue to renonstruct ribs.

43761682942_e11312d7f8_b.jpg

Then I cut out ailerons, since it will be easier to finish their sirfaces and th wing separately - you may see from drawings that not each aileron rib match the rib in wing.

I also made fuel tanks and other surface metal elements (bottom and top of wing):

29940501848_abbfabb395_b.jpg

29940501188_36733538cc_b.jpg

Similar work I did with fuselage

29940499368_3a72118ef4_b.jpg

Then I secured other surfaces of fuselage with Tamiya tape

29940502478_c72f727d9f_b.jpg

And I smeared thin layer of Tamiya putty along fabric part of fuselage and on top wing

29940504158_b3c234d65c_b.jpg

29940503398_72745a99be_b.jpg

For this smearing I use the excellent tool developed by evolution in last billion years - own fingers :)

43094030614_d21513b617_b.jpg

Yesterday I wrote the much wise it would be to do Planet kit. I have to not support those word any longer. If you google "Aero 101 planet 1/72" you can get this image:

9315_1_PLT077_2.jpg

It looks quite well unless you see on some deteils. The most important in very even passing from engine to fuselage, whereas in fact (what one can read from drawings I presented above) the main part of fuselage is rounded on top and engine cover is much square (this is W type engine). So in fact in Aero 101 there is not so smooth passing from engine to front of main part of fuselage...It is domething like in Spit, where engine forces sgiuared in section front which then suddently turns to round fuselage before cockpit,

To be continued

I start detailing of engine today. But before it I sanded the fabric part of fuselage.

I drilled openings for inlets, outlets and exhaust pipes

43823669711_2783278bc1_b.jpg

43775317232_e00367e413_b.jpg

43823672191_c93a91d660_b.jpg

From fine brass net I made net covers for outlets of air passing engine

43823673311_b930203097_b.jpg

From brass pipe I made the inlets of air (?) below exhaust pipes:

43823675751_28216f8357_b.jpg

28887249537_e017c4b22a_b.jpg

The exhaust pipes are a bit difficult since they are tybes in section having shape of  flat rectangulars with ovaled corners. So I had to enlarge a bit (ovalize) holes for exhaust pipes and I glued them made each one of two strechet spres gleued together. It will be difficult or simply impssible to drill openings in such exhaust pipees I think. That is pitty. I did have any better idea how to do them. I statret to glue also grill.

Here is what I have for 5 PM today

Hi,

Some more details on engine

43126912244_e5fd00a84a_b.jpg

It is clear here what I ment about the different section in engine part and in rounded upper front fuselage in Aero A-101.

I made ribs on lower wings

43795901982_886b90827d_b.jpg

That is a coarse state, then sanding, corrections and sanding...

I masekd some inspection (?) doors on fuselage

43795904792_bfe0b0af6e_b.jpg

Here after sanding and removin of tapes. This allowed me to glue tail in position. Tail comes without changes. I started to enlarge the fairing of lower wing/fuselage - due to wider chord the position of lower wing is a bit diferent then it is for A 100.

42940896095_635f8c8eb6_b.jpg

Front grill after some sanding to line-up it a bit

Wings after first sanding and corrections

42940893945_faf21e2e93_b.jpg

To be cont.

BTW - should I do her in Nationalist or Republican colours? Any preferencies from Audience? :)

I started to be doubtful about Nationalist livery, becaming not decided at the moment...

Cheers

Hi,

I glued lower wings in position and used H31 as primer. It turned out that openings for cabane struts I drilled about 1 mm to high on fuselage, so I filled them with putty and will drill new one tomorrow

43152891104_0031d79db8_b.jpg

next will be drilling holes for riging, then struts etc... I started to work on u/c. I use wheels from Shark, but they have sunk areas, so first I am trying to restore normal look...

To be cont.

Hi,

Upper wing on position. The side struts are scratch build from plastic fla profile (not that from box, since they are taller), the cabane struts in "N" form are cut and usedas "I" and "A" (I hope it is clear what I mean).

Now the time for riging...

The Shark wheels are of exactly right diameter.
