Airfix new Tomahawk Mk.II in 1:48

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

after the Sea Fury I built the new Airfix Tomahawk Mk.II in 1:48. Used the decals out of the box and add some Eduard PE parts, the pitot is self-made.

How did you get the stunning wear and tear effect on the wing root area?  Amazing weathering and I thank you for sharing this.

That was done with AMK chipping fluid

Matthias, the more I look at this P-40, the more it impresses me. The subtlety of the basecoats. The slight but noticeable weathering. The scale effect of the gun sight. The perfect work on the wheels. This is an absolute triumph.

Habu I have heard that twice in two months. One guy in our club said the fit wasn’t great and fiddly. I think it is a better than average kit with nice detail and shape. It’s a little over-engineered for my taste but that seems to be the trend these days.

Yowzah! Best 1/48 Tomahawk I have seen so far! The weathering and paintwork are incredible and totally realistic! I am soooo jealous! My very favorite scheme and markings, too! I hope I can do half as good on the 1/72 kit!

Fantastic - One of the best paint chipping effects I have seen - very realistic.

What metallic base coat did you use?

Absolutely wonderful! I have this on the to do list in those markings too, it was based out of Gatwick, somewhere I fly out of everyday.

Superb!
