1\32 Aston Martin DB5

Recommended Posts

I found this one lurking in the bottom of the stash and judging by the state of the mould seems and the amount of flash I won't be a quick build.

And there won't ejector seats, revolving number plates , machine guns etc etc.41661843325_bfa4df662a_c.jpg41661843455_6c0991c33a_c.jpg41661843525_d53a781cff_c.jpg41661843585_29f9146cff_c.jpg41661843665_7a1c3253b8_c.jpg

Time for a start it's only the wheels for the moment I can't get the proper wire wheels look as it's beyond my skills so it will have to remain as they are.

Starting with the untouched wheel with all the flash.

And then the cleaned up and finally the painted and finished.

Only another three to go41903193114_ea0dcd72aa_c.jpg41903193334_21f4b5cdd4_c.jpg41903193394_0b74b540aa_c.jpg41903193044_03dab250b6_c.jpg

Nice seeing this classic Aston as part of the GB mix. Those wheels look a treat and I sympathise with you having to repeat the process another three times. Best to look on the bright side though - it's not a multi- wheeled big rig now is it!!  From what I can tell, those moulds look like they've seen better days, so I hope it all lines up well for you as you progress along.

Cheers.. Dave

Finally got some colour on the body and I didn't want to go with the silver so I have gone with the nearest green to one of the original colours witch is a metallic green.

the pics go from under coat, top coat and then gloss coat40863683170_d636a531ea_c.jpg40863683250_b9405d2f0c_c.jpg40863683280_7199c67872_c.jpg40863683320_26fcdf7c2a_c.jpg

What a great choice Peter and looking very striking in metallic green :coolio:.

Re. the wire wheels.  Is the silver paint acrylic?  If so, you could overpaint using matt black enamel.  As soon as it's dry, then gently wipe over the surface using a cotton wool bud that has been dampened with enamel thinner.  That will remove the black from the top surface of the wires.  It's how I brought out the silver detail on these Alpine wheels.  It's pretty foolproof (famous last words), as long as the buds aren't too wet and you change them regularly.

Thanks for the tip I was going down that route but I felt that the detail was so shallow that I wouldn't have really worked.

Great work Peter. You’ve done a fine job putting this one together. if I was ever fortunate enough to wake up one morning and be asked “What colour should we spray your restored DB Mr. Rabbit Leader?” I’d be hard pressed to look past a metallic green like your fantastic kit!!

Cheers and nice gallery entry.. Dave
