speedy
Hi folks, im typing on the iPad and don't know how to copy a photo to BM. Anyway I'm looking to identify the bombs carried by an early Tornado at Farnborough when it was painted in the green/grey with LAG undersides. The bombs are black with red noses & tails but the look quite svelte to be 1000lb'ers. Has anybody got any concrete info on what they are, Selwyn, your on........... Steve. Jabba
I have found a black and white picture of an early Tornado (XX947 P03) flying with a bomb load that you what looks like the colour scheme that you have described. It says in the caption that they are low drag bombs and that is it, no real designation.
Boman
This one? To me this looks like Mk80-style inert bombs, or the british equivilent. 1

Slater
The profile almost looks like a US Mk 82 or Mk 83.
Boman
Might be inert bombs based on the French Beluga cluster bomb?

Corsairfoxfouruncle
If i were to put my two Pence in. Id say Mk. 83’s inert and done for show. Thats a Tornado prototype, if you look at the Vertical tail. The roundel is made up of three different ones.
Graham Boak
As said above, it is P03. I suggest that the "bombs" were fibreglass to the shape of Mk.83s. but they may simply be generic.
