fightersweep
Hi all; Just after any recommendations for a good fluorescent orange enamel paint that can be brush painted. Might be a tall order as I tried a Humbrol fluorescent once and I couldn't get any coverage at all after gawd knows how many coats....or is this just a thing with fluorescents? Thanks in advance; Steve
cngaero
I've found that applying a flat white undercoat to the fluorescent/dayglow areas first helps with the coverage.
fightersweep
Thanks for the advice. I'll give that a try on some test pieces first. Steve
lasermonkey
Any fluorescent paint will need a good, solid, white undercoat to work. I'm surprised that it didn't mention it on the tin. I seem to remember that the old Humbrol fluorescents did.
fightersweep
Just now, lasermonkey said: Any fluorescent paint will need a good, solid, white undercoat to work. Any particular brand that I should go for? Steve
lasermonkey
The old Humbrol stuff worked well, I seem to remember, but I couldn't vouch for their modern efforts. I also have a vague memory that the older stuff may need cellulose thinners. It's been a very, very long time since I last used them! I'll have to check, as I think I still have a few in the stash. Other than that, I have no idea whether anyone else does suitable fluorescent paints!
fightersweep
Thanks! I see that Revell do a fluorescent orange, but it occured to me that I have never used a Revell enamel paint. I have no idea what they're like.
Mick4350
Anybody know what Vallejo range is like in the Fluoro range ? Edited June 2, 2018 by Mick4350 Bad spelling.
PhoenixII
Steve, just to ring the changes, try a PINK undercoat, it gives the colour more depth. Mick, sorry mate, never used any of the Vallejo fluro range, give it a day or two, somebody will be along. Paul
Matt_
I know they have the Vallejo fluo orange at my local Ian Allan. If you're still after some feedback on it, I could pop in and grab a bottle on Thursday. (or it's on Amazon Prime for £2.45)
