Old pro
If you are willing to go resin, there are other kits available, 2S3, 2S5, 2S7, Uragan, BM 21 (also available in plastic?) etc . On an interested side note, what are the markings distinguishing LPR and DPR vehicles, I know the rebel flag is widely used and the white stripes on Ukranian vehicles, but there seems conflicting information on some other markings such as AHP which has bee attributed to both sides

But it is not an armored vehicle. as far as the tactical identifications is concerned, it seems to me, there were at least three distinct periods in the evolution of those during the conflict. -First roughly summer to end of September 2014. Ukrainian army started up with its pre-war ID and painting, but with the appearances of captured and defector's armor in DPR/LPR units they started introduction of white stripes on its vehicles 9udually just two, but some jokers on the unit level were adding the third one a-la Adidas trade mark. Also this was a period of wild art and custom painting of the vehicles on both sides, many of which had its own nick names. DPR/LPR armed forces at that time were a collection of independent militia units and only the larger ones had some sort of unified unit emblems-like "Vostok" battalion (DPR), or Mozgovoi Brigade (LPR). Most of the vehicle on either side were relatively unique from the painting point of view. Here I would again refer to an excellent "Armor of Donbass" decal sheet, which is very well researched. in general what westerners often take for Confederate Rebel flag is, in fact, the Novorossia Armed Forces flag and was appearing and widely used only from mid August 2014 until end of September 2014. -second -between first and second Minsk accords. End of September 2014-February 2015. DPR/LNR forces united into two armies (corps) and underwent massive structural reorganization. New battalions with relatively clear subordination structure were established, some old units disbanded, some joined corps and some still operated semi independently. Some rudimentary supply chain was also developed. the equipment became more standardized and unit insignia along with it. some marking systems were used, but rather inconsistently and from the modelling point of view consultation with photos is necessary. New unit emblems appeared but the information and photos started appearing much less often. - third from the second Minsk accord to today- DPR/LNR armed forces seems to be strictly structured, with relatively high level of discipline and control over information outflow. There is clearly a coordinated unit ID system within LPR/DPR corp. Perhaps, one of the links above shed light on vehicle insignia within 1st and 2nd Corps, but how accurate it is.....currently the info from DPR/LNR is rationed and censored (as one would expect it should be). Serge _______ * - b.w. curious moment with a dog from a parade on Victory Day 2018: This is probably a stray dog that is fed by residents of nearby houses. Unfortunately, the city budget does not have enough funds to keep homeless animals so they are only caught by the relevant services, they are vaccinated, sterilization, attached to a special chip and released back. But much more dangerous are the wild animals that the war created from their habitats. For example, foxes were seen in the city, and I even photographed a whole family of an owl on a tree in the afternoon, practically in the center of the city. Old pro
Thank you both for the answers, Aardvark, the links you provided, show a good insight into unit markings, although my Russian is rubbish, google translate helps and I am currently working through it. I forget how long I have been collecting interesting pictures, and most of them are from the early period, so separating sides was my first priority. i have seen the decal sheet you mentioned, in fact it was the T 64 sheet that threw up my question, or at least caused me to question what I thought I knew, as when searching AHP a lot of information put it as an Ukranian unit, it is also not helpful when some sites deliberately sow misinformation and cite clearly Ukranian vehicles as proof of Russians! Shame that in this world of information technology, there is so much misinformation. p.s as far as I am aware there is no plastic Uragan, Modelcollect do the Smerch, Fabbri do a die cast Uragan. I realise they are not technically AFVs but some times it is helpful to include all vehicles used. thanks again to you both.

Aardvark
Hi, all! On, this topic: @col ask about people in this conflict. I recently got two stories. The first is about completely peaceful people, and the second is about the military. I’ll just give the machine translation of the first civilian story, providing it with my own comments, because it looks very incredible. And the second story, just watch the video. 1. Civilian. Too beautiful and fabulous story to be true? About Donetsk scavengers for a long time they make up legends .... but read for yourself (sorry for machine translation): ""What a clean city." True story. Many guests who come to Donetsk from the Russian Federation are surprised, "What a clean city!". Some compare with Minsk. During the war, the surprise was even greater. I think it makes sense to tell one story about the summer of 2014, which was told to me by a man who fought in the Gorlovka militia, in the "Maloi (Small)” unit. What then happened in Gorlovka, to which the Ukrainian troops approached, I think everyone can imagine. Cork, standing on the outskirts of the city, they say, reached a length of 15-16 kilometers. A significant part of the inhabitants fled from the war, the rest - somehow survived under shelling. The city was lousy with food, very lousy with gasoline and only about two hundred militiamen, who decided not to give up the city and did not pass. It was in that hot July of 2014, in the besieged half-extinct city, that story happened. The soldier who told me about her was in the detachment's location when he heard that there was some kind of squabble at the entrance to the check-point. Came out to see who the scandal is. Some civilian unarmed men with shouts and uncensored vocabulary almost rushed to guard the base. From the screams one could understand that it was a question of fuel, which was really worth its weight in gold, and which civilian men demanded from the military for some of their needs. The soldier came up, tried to calm people down and find out what was going on, what fuel was needed for. Families something to take out? But the men demanded fuel not for cars loaded with families and household goods, which were used to block the roads of Donbass in those days. It turned out Gorlovka scavengers. They had nowhere to run, it was their city. They said that already significant time did not receive either wages or money for fuel. They took out the garbage, tucking garbage trucks into their meager stash, which had just run out. You need fuel, which in the city is supplied only by the military and ambulance. If you do not take out the garbage in such a heat, an epidemic will inevitably flare up in the city. In the end, everyone calmed down and they somehow found the fuel. And people under shelling took out the garbage. If you wanted to answer the question, why is it so clean here, even during a war, probably this is it. There are just a lot of ordinary people who love their land. Something like this." Resource on Russian: https://kenigtiger.livejournal.com/1923372.html So, you can easily make a diorama, where during the lull after the battle, a garbage-collecting car drives among the houses. Unfortunately there was no without loss, since 2014-2015, total 12 civilian communal city workers who died during the conflict in the Donbass. On the blackboard are the names of locksmiths, welders, drivers of trolley buses, machinists, fitters, street sweepers, inspectors and foremen of the enterprises' sections. Resource photo: https://dan-news.info/obschestvo/imena-pogibshix-za-vremya-vojny-kommunalshhikov-dnr-uvekovecheny-na-zdanii-byvshego-upravleniya-zhkx.html Of course, now when the front line has gained some stability and most of all resembles a positional war on the Western front during the First World War, public utilities do not collect garbage or repair communications on the battlefield. But things can change at any time. 2. Military. (Another idea for a diorama, with elements of army humor* !) I suppose I partially answered the question @Col. about the characteristic the people living in the territory of this conflict with one of the parties. B.R. Aardvark
New reality...new ways of waging war...new war monument.... Probably the only monument Anti-tank guided missile in the world! This monuments from Shakhtyorsk city: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shakhtarsk shooting BTR-60 & some kind Anti-tank guided missile I don't know which one maybe 9K115 Metis (?) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/9K115-2_Metis-M Sorry, but the weather and lack of time prevented me from getting closer. The fact is that several days were plus the temperature and all the snow on the street was melting, then the weather changed and it became frost, when I maked this photo was -7 degrees on Celsius. In such conditions, where snow is not cleared and spetstal reagent or sand is not poured, everything turns into an ice rink, on which ordinary civilian and army footwear is useless. Therefore, it is likely to fall and break your arm, leg, or anything else when you fall. In general, I did not take risks. Aardvark
Very interesting statistics ( and very unexpected for me in a number of countries) about the number of foreign citizens fighting on both sides of the conflict since 2014: ( text on ukraine language) From top to down - Russia, Belarus, Germany, Serbia, Moldova, France, Georgia, Italy, Austria, Croatia. Blue (left side) - ukraine, Orange - other side. Resource: https://www.radiosvoboda.org/a/30199603.html It's pro-ukrainian infographic, therefore, in the amount of 12000 there is manipulation, because on this infographic no ratio inside group " separatist/Russian hybrid force". About this group the point of view is diametrically opposite. Pro-ukrainian sources say that mainly Russian regular troops and mercenaries from Russia are fighting and the local population is a small minority. The other side claims that mainly the local population is fighting, and Russian volunteers in good times made up no more than 5-10% of the total. But the numbers for other countries are most likely true. Of course there are those who are fighting from other countries, such as Sweden, the USA, Spain, Great Britain, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Israel, but their number is probably less than 5 people per country, so they did not get into the infographic. Especially for those modelers who in childhood loved to play with toy bricks!😁😁 Local modification T-64BV with dynamic protection ( from 5:15 on short video): Also was shown local modernization of the BTR-80 with four anti-tank missile "Konkurs" ( from 3:45 on short video), and local modification BMP-2 ( from 1:07 on short video, with compassion other similar modification) with "hevy" dynamic protection. All this can be seen on a short video here: or on the full video of the parade 24 June 2020 dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War: In the static exposition of these local modification were not, but maybe they will be shown on the Day of the liberation of Donbass from nazi in early September this year, I think by that time the weather will not be as hot as it was (over +30 degrees Celsius in the shade) during this Parade.
