Colour for pin / sludge wash?

Hi Can any one advise as to which colour pin / sludge wash i should use on a Battle of Britain Spitfire model that i am working on. The colours are the usual of dark green / dark earth over sky. Thanks🙂

Good question and something that I will be doing some time this week. I would tend to think a dark dirty brown for the uppers and possiblly a grey shade for the lower sides. I’m sure you already know to avoid pure black at all costs. I’s be interested to see what others think.

 

I’ve got a couple of 1/72 Airfix Mk.1 Spits on the go where the panel lines are already quite prominent without a wash. I’ll just be applying my wash to the ailerons, elevators and possibly around the cowling.
