Looking good Ced!

Don't think I'll add the Noah's Ark zoo to my list of must visit places. I have a huge aversion to idiots who think they can push their religious ideas onto me.

Ian

know Ian... but they're nice people, what can you do except accept the pamphlet and promise to try to do better

Those Hercules engines are looking good. It's all looking good.

Chris

Thanks Chris :) So help me out here, what are the roddy things in front of the engines on this picture?

Hell’s bells those idents and roundels look awesome next to your Silver machine.  BTW. Slightly off topic but I saw a De Haviland Dragon Rapide Fly over the golf club at Stourbridge earlier this afternoon. Must be headed for Cosford. Not something you see everyday.  instantly thought of you. 😃

Keep up the great work Ced.

J

Ah, the Rapide... so pretty :) Thanks Jont.

And with good reason I think, that looks rather splendid!

As does the elephant (and the tigers!)

Keith

Thanks Keith, very kind :)

Here endeth the first lesson, praise be to the Baron :D

The fuselage roundels are out of shape. Sand off and start again, or mask and bodge...

Verily, that is the question (hic).

You can save them Ced. 🧐 I wouldn’t sand em off. Is that a smudge on the kit or on the photo on the right? Either way I think make a mask and spray the roundels again if you like but to be fair they look ok to me, but if you’re not happy.  Deffo try and save without sanding back though.

Just my thoughts you know. 🤗

Good luck sir.

Solution....revisit said watering hole, ingest copious amounts of alcohol , return home via the long way round and only then reappraise roundels. 😉 now they look OK.

Seriously the CedB, I think most of us have been there and it is an awful feeling having to revisit work already done, however, I have full confidence in you old bean to arrive at the right conclusion and end result.

I am with the gang here but suggest you only attack the red

Mask the white and denib the red edges raised skin with a gentle abrade then pop a few little bits or yon red on your tiny brush

The almost invisible bit you think you saw will vanish

And as a man, toper some say of this parish medicinally denied access to the affluence of incahol during the never ending application of back fixing medication, can youse guys perlease lay off with the happy pub references for another day or so

Perlease

Norman's service will resume on Tuesday

Bill leaves for Poole and the mighty Barfleur on Wednesday Morning at 3 am

Then the fun starts

Damn you, miserably unhelpful Android robot tablet computer and your unhelpful edit function

well you're not laughing now are you

I think I've been terribly uncouth and not commented here yet, Ced. I'm with the others here in having confidence in your ability to sort out those roundels. This build is a splendid demonstration of your skills, you've done a really nice modelling job here.

You sure you hadn't been down le publique ouse yourself before typing that Bill?!

Enjoy LM, I'm stuck with watching it on telly & listening to Radio Le Mans again....

As to your roundels Ced I'll just leave the solution in your capable hands - "Ced the builder, can he fix it - Ced the builder, yes he can"!!

Thanks Thom and especially Chris for the info and photos of the collector ring supports - I shall stick some of those in later :)

Thanks Johnny, John, Gary, Tony, Chris and Keith for advice and support on the roundels (see below) :)

Thanks Bill and I really hope your back's better before you set off - have a great time matey :)

A careful micro-meshing to remove any nasties then a very careful application of new masks:

The plan is to remove each part of the mask and touch up as required, starting with the red:

This time I'll make sure each mask is properly positioned before I start!

Thanks to Chris again for the great photos of the collector ring supports, I'll have a bash at those later.

Wheel hubs painted.

Getting close to fitting the wheels, doors and engines I think:

Looks fantastic in that finish Ced.

Makes me want to try one, I think one of the MPM boxings has a NMF (or Silver) finish, that'll be a dead cert for me to try.

:goodjob:

Wow! That was fast, Buffers.

Thanks PC :) About to slow down...

Now I have round roundels:

I could get the engines and cowlings on:

28822628058_ef06fb59a7_z.jpg

Now I need to slow down and scratch the oil coolers and collector supports.

And get the wheels on.

And the serial transfers.

Then I can varnish (satin I think), unmask the canopy and sort out the framing.

Nearly there...
