Zvezda 1/72 109F Finished

Recommended Posts

Looks fantastic, I have an old Frog version in my stash and your finished model has inspired me.  Just a bit worried about the decals due to the age, they appear alright and not too yellowish.

Love your use of Lego genius idea.

@Hairtrigger If you ankle it down to Home Bargains, the're doing this knock off Lego @ 89p for the base plates and £2.99 for the big box of bits.as seen with Mr Zvezda

I did buy one of those wonderful laser cut jigs a couple of years ago and I have got this far with it due to intense boredom setting in...

I have one of these that I have been working on for ages, you have inspired me to dig it out and get stuck in

Go for it, it a fun build and mostly everything fits easily ( see below)

Superb! I've just bought two of these, so a dig through this to see the issues and pitfalls was really useful!

Thanks @Mitch K, no real pitfalls just a few things.

  1. First off its a snap fit so ream out the receiving holes if you intend to dry fit and paint anything separately
  2. Canopy fit is tight so get out a micro/nano/pico saw and trim off the snap-in lugs
  3. Montex canopy mask is mostly fine but rear top part wont conform due to thick vinyl used, use the mask as template to cut a tamiya tape one instead
  4. Zvezda don't supply aileron balances (or holes for them), if you haven't got spares, these will do the trick

BTW if anyone wants the leftover Misterkit Marseille decals below , a PM will secure said gratis if you're in the UK. They are usable if a slight bit out in registration, setting solution wise, I found using the drop of Future or Daco red worked well.

Thanks for the tips, especially the aileron balances! I searched Hannants and didn't find those when I was building my two G6/AS's. Suffice it to say that an alternative to scratchbuilding the wretched things myself is very, very welcome!

(wouldn't win anything apart from some free abuse from @Mike as usual)

....and you are? :wicked: I don't have time to be associating with the likes of you my son. :tease:

I hate everything about that model apart from the bits I like, and I don't have time to tell you which bits :ninja:
