It shows the rumanian conversion Yak-23 D.C.

 In reality, the Yak-23 D.S. externally very much repeats the first version of the Yak-23UTI -Yak-23UTI-I (yelp, it's little sensation! :)B) ), which was later redesigned by Yakovlev's design bureau in Yak-23UTI-II, so familiar to us. Yak-23UTI-I did not suit the military for many reasons, including because of a poor review of the instructor from the back cockpit. Did the design bureau Yakovlev help Romania in the development of their Yak-23 D.S. is not yet known reliably, in theory should have been. Yak-23UTI-II itself also had some changes in testing period.

Photos Soviet Yak-23UTI -I will be later.

Yak-23 UTI-I:

Yak-23 UTI-I original cutaway:

Yak-23 UTI evolution:

But have next differences  Yak-23 D.C. v.s. Yak-23 UTI-I:

1. Canopy

2. Rear canopy fuselage panel line.

3. Yak-23 UTI-I was modification second prototype  Yak-23 who have place for airbrake on a wing:
yak23uti14.jpg

(But airbrake on wing was deleted! No image this place on a wing!)

So, as I think for correct maked all version Yak-23 D.C/ UTI "A&A models" need made:

- 3 different fuselages;

- 2 different wings;

- 6 different canopy;

- as minimal 2 different main wheel gears.....

...do you seriously think that they will do all this?

:)

Interesting layout, I wonder how many jet aircraft have the engine ahead of the pilot?

Built ? Not a project?  My interesting only jet fighter, because:

1.Yak-15

2.Yak-RD (first Yak-17)

3.Yak-17

4.Yak-23

5.Yak-36

6.La-152

7.La-154

8.La-156

9.La-160

10.La-174TK

11.La-200 family (?)

12.Saunders Roe S.R.A.1 (?)

13.McDonnel XF-85 Goblin (?)

14.Mikoyan I-320 (?)

15. Ambrosini "Sagittario" II.

On the SR/A1 the two Beryl engines are behind, and each side of the cockpit, but only just.

The Goblin engine starts ahead of the cockpit.

Wouldn't have a clue with the Soviet types, thank you for those.

Goblin cockpit in fact sit on a engine.

Because this is something in between, but in any case, the engines of these aircraft do not start behind the cockpit of the plane! There is also a question of how to classify La-200 and I-320, because one of their engines is in front of the cockpit, and the second behind the cockpit!

That's why I put a question mark - (?)!

Very nice. A&A Models, how about a Yak-141/41 in 1/48th scale!

The step in the front/visor canopy section that is shown on the photo seems to be missing from the kit. Which one is closer to correct?

areva

In photos of the real machine the step is not so obvious and pronounced as depicted in the box-art so hopefully the kit is correct.

I wonder how this stacks up to the mikromir/ bilek kit?

I have built the Bilek Yak 23 some time ago and I certainly recognize this kit when looking at the A&A sprues.

Although the A&A seems more complex...there was no engine in the Bilek Yak, but the layout of the main subassemblies (fuselage, wings, cockpit, wheel bays) are almost identical.
