Reini78
After building a not-any-more-exisiting Tamiya Mk.I years ago, my dad thought it is time to add a Mk.I again to our collection, using the new Airfix kit and doing an early version with the 2-blade prop. Reini78
The fuselage integrated cockpit door has no crowbar, the extra door piece in the kit has one. Because the early MkI had none my dad decided to keep it closed, hard to remove the crowbar from the open door part. Håkan but for a new tool kit it is disappointing, expected more from Airfix already test-fitted wings to fuselage, also needs some filler, maybe even a bit of plastic sheet

Martian
That undercarriage joint worries me, it might be a good plan to pre-empt it breaking and pin it with some brass rod. Martian 👽

Martian 👽 Yes, the engineering is partially a bit "unlucky"... We'll see how the landing gear will turn out. At least the model isn't big and heavy so we hope the legs will hold.
Thom216
Really liking the progress on this Spit! Coming along real nice. For the gear, you can see why they did it, as it does have nice detail and looks like it's actually supposed to swing up, but yes pinning it was the first thing to pop into my head. Looks way fragile. And if they could do that half-round surface then they could have done even a small peg-n-hole arrangement.🤔 As to that ill-fitting cowl part, which looks way sad for Airfix on an otherwise fine-fitting kit, could you have used plastic strip to bridge the gaps? Would require some test fitting and sanding a few times, but that could work too. Edited June 13, 2018 by Thom216

If the gaps would have been bigger, my dad would have used sheets too.
