Only problem is we need at least 10 x Astute to have a credible operational fleet. With 7, in reality only 3, possibly 4 at a push will actually be available at any one time.

Good to see a commitment to the barrow yard, our local economy needs the boost till successor kicks off.

Very pleased to read this today.  Seems we have a defence secretary is who is taking naval/maritime defence seriously.  With the introduction of Poseidon as well we should, once again, have a state of the art anti-submarine capability.

Yep. As a very senior officer commented earlier this week - it's not that we aren't getting very highly capable kit, we just aren't getting enough of it.......
