Hi Pappy and Biggu,

Just to inform you of what aftermarket is available for this kit (and the extent of my AMS disease...) here you have a list of what I bought:

Eduard Big Ed 4965
Aires 4593 S-2F wheels and paint masks
Attack Squadron 48006 US Navy Mk 54 Depth Charges
Aerobonus 480050 US Navy Mk 44 torpedoes
Quickboost 48512 S2F engines
Quickboost 48483 S2F exhaust
Quickboost 48508 S2F intakes
Quickboost 48569 S2F propellers with tool
Quickboost 48531 S2F pylons
Quickboost 48530 S2F tail wheel
Quickboost 48529 S2F radar

I don't know if the Mk 54 depth charges were still used by the S-2E Tracker, can anyone help me on this question?

Rui

Gday guys - I found an aftermarket producer called DMOLD and he makes replacement engine nacelles and a forward fuselage correction resin set for the 1/48 Tracker although currently not available but may be later in the year according to website - listed on his page 3 of 1/48 resin sets

Thanks TBC, Mike Blecher is a great guy to deal with, he also has decals for our Trackers........ I would really love to do a "Firecat" which is a civilian fire bomber, but I need Syhart to scale up there decal set ..................OR I could do a RCN machine, but certainly my efforts won't be as good as you are doing Pappy...... this is a fine tutorial, and I'm watching every move with great interest........

G'day Mick, I think I may be a 'serial starter', there should a be a group for this, hi everyone, my name is Pappy and I am a serial starter.

I hope you guys are toasty up there, because it is bloody cold down here, but otherwise, all is well, I have three hobby shops within 30mins and found local model group - winning!

cheers,

Pappy

Three model shops isn't too bad for where you are and a local model group is a plus.

We had a two and a half week trip through Qld over the school holidays. Warm in NW Qld but became cooler as we arrived to a cold snap when we got home. Have just spent two nights camping near Warwick too...Brrr...cold with a few minuses on the temp gauge.

Trying to keep toasty.

G'day Colin,

Life keeps interrupting my chi unfortunately, but a Tracer is something you don't see very often. I know someone who is building the old Collectaire Resin 1/48 kit. That will be impressive when done.

G'day Biggu,

Unfortunately I will be away from home due to a work trip so there will be no updates for a little while.......

G'day Mick,

It does get cold out that way, I have been t a few Christmas and July events out towards Girraween and the winter food certainly made more sense than eating it in December. I am very toasty at the moment though, relaxing in the tropical north, eating my laksa and paw paw salad whilst looking at the sea gulls fighting over chips,

cheers,

Pappy

Thanks Pappy. The Tracer dish is solid Perspex, I may need some metal stuts to hold it up. I have a granious plan of the whole Tracker family but... I think I may have a Falcom vac-form conversion soemwhere too.

Enjoy your trip, doesn't sound like work!

I did indeed for 9 years I was a grubber in the FAA on Gannets and then Wessex. I enjoyed it emencely but then it became a drudge. Forutately I fouund a position as an industrial modelmaker, after my time. Rip, stoot and tare most of the time but there were a few projects that gave me emence satisfaction. It did however at the time tamper with my hobby! I got through it and now after 50 years + of plastic modelling I thing I'm getting the best out of it. Britmodeller has been a boon...

  • 1 year later...

G'day people,

So I have been able to drag this one out of the cupboard of aimless destiny during the Chrissy break and managed to get a little more done with it.

I have managed to get some paint of the inner wing/nacelle sections and the fuselage. The inner wing sections are only dry fitted in the pics below,

The nacelles still need some more work and engine cowls were only temporarily attached using PVA glue to allow me to mask and paint the anti-glare sections,

The cowlings have since been removed and I will work on getting the donks sorted next,

cheers,

Pappy

This is a great reference for people who have the Kinetic Tracker in their stash - I will be referring to your techniques when I get around to mine

G'day CJP,

I would not pay too much attention as I have made some mistakes and used some artistic licence here and there and anyway, at this pace you may well finish yours before I finish mine!

cheers,

Naah mine is still tucked away in the wardrobe with the rest of  my stash so long way off starting yet - I like the artistic approach you've taken and I would rather try & capture the "feel" of the aircraft than count rivets so to speak.
