It's interesting that none of the executive Rovers were released as an estate. Mercedes, BMW and Audi all sold plenty of estates but Rover and Jaguar never released one in the 70s, 80s or 90s.

The Montego doesn't really count 😁

Both SD1 estates are preserved, the one above at Gaydon, the other at the Haynes Motor Museum, Sparkford, Somerset.

Personally I think this would have a successful car and good competition in the UK market against Volvo, it was well laid out.

There were a number of Rover P6 estates built, designed by FLM Panelcraft, but it wasn't a tremendously practical layout, and in my eyes didn't suit the look of the P6, though I owned two.

I think the first Rover (as in Rover branded) estate of the modern era was the 75

Ah the much maligned Rover brand! I remember my boss getting a brand new SD it would have been 1978 what a beauty started me off on a long run

of Rover's 214.216 GTI,400,820 and last one was a 216 coupe, loved them only the 400 ever let me down with the obligatory cylynder head gasket

fialure,I did have a Metro and three Maestro's too again no issues shame BMW didn't save the brand there was some terrific project's at the design

stage but that's another story!

Hondas, every last one of them!

I owned two SD1s and I still miss the V8.  As I go to shows with more and more bulky boxes, I sometimes wish it had been possible to buy a V8 estate ... and to afford to keep it on the road.

Yea,shame the tie up  never carried on, the 216 gti was my favourite  Honda 145 BHP engine, great driver and  seriously quick off the mark  my father in law had the big

V8 P6 and a stunning P5.

Owned them all (7 P6s and 2 P5s +3 early Range Rover V8s), great cars.  Funny fuel consumption wasn't an issue in my younger days!

I still say that the P6 is the best car that I have ever driven.
