Nieman R-10, Winter War 1939-40, Pavla 1/72

Recommended Posts

Hi,

In commemoration of 10th years of BM forum there was a GB in which we were all invited to do a model with "10" in its description. Could be even "Me 410" or any machine from 10 Squadron. My choice was Nieman R-10 - a Soviet light bomber/tactical recce machine from late 1930s. This is one of first (exactly No 72006, so 6th if catalogue number tells true) Pavla kit.  Made of a bit too soft plastic.

I replaced the turret by a scratch build one and changed the spinner for the late R-10 type.

Here she is:

The thread from build is in GB section

Another very unusual subject, very nicely completed. As you know, I have a fondness for ugly aeroplanes myself, but I think this one is too ugly even for me! Thanks for sharing.

15 hours ago, Sturmovik said:

Weird looking aircraft, was it build out of wood?

Mixed structure covered mostly by playwood. it was not so rare machine, with civil variant PS-5 it was dome alltogether in series of almost 500 items.

Here is more about this type: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kharkiv_KhAI-5

Gentelmen, many thanks for comments, I appreciate them :) .

More wonderfully finished airborne esoterica! Great job Jerzy!

I remember (cripes, it is almost 20 years ago!) back in my computer gaming days, when Il-2 Sturmovik first hit the shelves. One of the AI aircraft in game was the Neman R-10, rendered rather crudely (by their later standards) which always got a bit of a 'what is that!?' reaction from new players... Strange little beast.

Very ugly but indeed, but the most ugly is u/c which looks heavy due to too large wheels. In air perhaps she had some kind of art-deco or rather futurism charm (?!)

Many thank for comments
